It is always the intent on this page to share inherent beauty, most often of our favorite medium, wood, usually as displayed in handcrafted pieces. Today however, the best we can offer is the image of some flowering, woody plants.

The veritable storm of world events changes all that we do, and it is an easy thing to cling to and mourn those things that are withheld; interaction with the Artists' community in the Park Trades Center, the chance to meet friends, guests, and visitors, in our showcase studio for Art Hop, so that we can converse, conspire, inspire, aspire, and problem solve together. These may, or may not, come back to us in the in-determinant future. We will all adapt and change as we need.

Sadly, it is yet one more of these challenging events which is the cause of so few social media posts from Medullary Studios: I have seriously injured my back, soon I will need to have surgery to repair the damage. After the healing and recovery time, I will need to change and adapt my work habits and processes to reflect my own personal "new normal" (and yes I hate that phrase as much as all of you do).

Medullary Studios the business, and the business plan behind it are strong, complete, solvent, and ongoing. We are still here. We are not going anywhere. We have a variety of partially completed projects "in the pipeline", all of those projects will be completed and delivered, albeit on an extended timeline.

So please, stay safe, look for the beauty around us, and Medullary Studios will be back shortly!

In a system that treats people as objects to be counted, chained, searched and assigned a number, art is a way for prisoners to reassert their agency – and reclaim their lives.

We never did share the final products of these intriguing pieces by Cathy Germay: Fine Artist:

This series came about as an experiment, where I painted a figure on paper and then tore up that painting and stitched it back together. I didn't think the effect was strong enough, so for the second piece, instead of just stitching the painting back together, I sculpted several wounds on the painting with paper clay and stitched them up with thread. In this series I aim to portray the beauty of the fragility of the human body paired with the resiliency of the human spirit. Even though we are torn apart, we pick up the pieces and continue on as best we can.
