For 17 years, a golf outing to honor the memory of a WMCC breast cancer patient named Wendy Hotrum has raised thousands of dollars to support our patients. Today, we're pleased to announce that this year's event broke a record: $20,615.02!

First, we want to say THANK YOU to Shawn Hotrum and Chris Pearl for co-chairing the event all these years. They spend months and months soliciting gifts from area businesses to raffle and taking care of all the details that go into hosting a large golf outing. Second, we want to thank the numerous businesses that donated gift certificates, tee signs and made in-kind donations with a special shout out to Eastern Hills Golf Course. And, of course, there are all the golfers who showed up with their clubs ready and wallets open to buy raffle tickets and silent auction items--you're the best! Events like these help us support area cancer patients with programming that otherwise wouldn't be available to them.

🎉 Congratulations to our July 2025 STRIVE Champion, Laura Rorick!

Laura is a medical records technician. She went above and beyond—getting critical patient info in under 30 minutes (from TWO institutions!) and stepping up big time in medical records during a staffing shortage. She trained teammates, adjusted her schedule, and truly showed what it means to be a team player. 💪

Thanks to everyone who walked, ran, sponsored or otherwise supported Kathy's Run For Cancer on July 4th, benefiting West Michigan Cancer Center and Bronson Foundation. 550 people turned out for the event at Gull Lake High School to raise awareness of cancer in honor of Kathy Kollig, a stage 4 breast cancer survivor. Special thanks to News Channel 3 WWMT TV for covering the event again this year!

While many participated in the usual July 4th festivities, hundreds of people took part in a run for fighting cancer and promoting education.

🌟 Today is Fundraiser Appreciation Day! 🌟

Today, we’re celebrating Payton, our dedicated Development Coordinator at WMCC! 💙

Thanks to Payton’s hard work and heart, every donated dollar goes further, bringing warmth, comfort, and joy to our patients. From a welcoming cup of coffee & snack cart treats, to meaningful programs like free organic produce through the community supported agriculture (CSA) program, to the beautiful artwork throughout our space, Payton helps ensure every visit to WMCC feels comforting.

Her dedication to making every dollar count reflects just how much we care for our extraordinary patients — and how grateful we are for our generous donors. 🙌

For nearly a decade and a half, a dedicated group of area motorcyclists calling themselves Hawgs For A Cause rode on a 100 mile course through West Michigan, starting and finishing at the Augusta Custer VFW 7956. They called it the Cancer Center Ride and it was all for us. 🥰 The money raised from the ride and the silent and live auctions was donated to WMCC to help cancer patients. The organizers of the ride have now retired and we just want to share our deepest thanks and appreciation for their many years of hard work and dedication to the cause.
