Today, the MDHHS received notice from the USDA to pause November SNAP benefits until further notice, due to the government shutdown.

As the largest provider of charitable food assistance in Kalamazoo County, we are following this closely and remain prepared to respond to an increase in need. We will be expanding our purchased food inventory, increasing our capacity for pantry appointments, and collaborating with other social service providers.

Our programs are based on self-declaration of need. If you need help with food and groceries, contact us. Call 269-343-3663, email info@kzoolf.org, or visit www.kzoolf.org.

🧠💚 It's National OCD Awareness Week! 💚🧠
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is not just being neat or organized — it's a serious mental health condition that affects approximately 8 million people every day.
OCD involves unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that can be overwhelming and distressing.
While many people have unwanted or intrusive thoughts at times, it's not the same as having OCD.
OCD is treatable. And people with OCD deserve understanding, support, and access to proper care.
This week, let’s work to break the stigma, educate others, and listen with empathy.
is more than what you think — and so are the people living with it. 💬💪

World Mental Health Day was earlier this week, but the conversation doesn’t end there.

Mental health is something we live with, care for, and talk about every day, and is not reserved for just one day a year.

This year’s message is a reminder that mental health is a universal right, and access to support, understanding, and healing should be too.

If you're struggling, you’re not alone. We're here when you're ready.

🧠 Today is World Mental Health Day — a global reminder that mental health is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. This year’s theme, “Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” calls attention to the invisible toll of crises — from natural disasters to conflict zones — where emotional wounds often outlast physical ones. In times of upheaval, mental health support must be part of the first response, not an afterthought.

One in five people affected by emergencies may develop serious mental health conditions, yet services are often disrupted or inaccessible. We must advocate for systems that prioritize psychological first aid, tele-mental health, and community-based care — especially for vulnerable groups like children, the elderly, and displaced individuals.

Let’s use today to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and push for inclusive, resilient mental health services that reach people when they need it most. Because healing minds is just as vital as rebuilding lives.
