We’re proud to highlight capstone student Ellia Flejtuch for bringing an incredible idea to life for her capstone project!

Ellia approached Moore Theatres with a vision to make the big-screen movie experience accessible, inclusive, and joyful for people living with dementia. West Michigan’s First Dementia-Friendly Movie Program is now being hosted at M-89 Cinema in Plainwell, offering monthly classic films with thoughtful accommodations.

The inaugural screening featured the beloved classic Singin’ in the Rain, and future showings include timeless favorites like Meet Me in St. Louis and Harvey. Admission is free, and snacks are available at a low cost, making this a truly community-centered event. These dementia-friendly movie afternoons create meaningful shared experiences for families and is a wonderful example of inclusion in action.
