Hello ladies!! Over the summer several of us have been talking and while some have done triathlons, Mackinac Island/Bridge Swim, various runs (5/10K, half marathons), and other more amazing marathons and Ironmans...there's been many who have expressed a melancholy for "days of yore." And missing the groups. SOOOOO...Bert and I (Amber) have talked to Mel and decided to try something a little different...
A RUN GROUP...but not exactly run training. We want to do a fall run group with 4 goals.
1. THE NUMBER 1 goal the thing that women have expressed they want, they miss, is THE GROUP, the getting together, the camaraderie. SO THAT'S #1. GETTING TOGETHER! We'll have 1 official run a week TUESDAY NIGHTS at 6pm, first time Tuesday, August 29! We know that doesn't always work, but TRY TO MAKE IT!
2. MOVE. Run, walk, you choose the time and distance. Before Tuesday's run, post what distance/time you'll be running, find your group, meet, check-in chat, and go! Everyone will stay for their group, Bert or I will stay til the last person (and everyone is welcome to stay for everyone). This part we'll work on so EVERYONE is with people as much as possible to meet GOAL #1!
3. TRAIN...if you want...sort of part of #2. YOU run/walk for your training. We'll go over how you can train (plans, apps, Garmin training plans) at our first meeting.
4. THANKSGIVING 5K...if you want...try to get us to do one together. There's the WMU Turkey Trot. There's been one at West Middle School where you can predict your time (I came in 8th one year). Or we could just do our own.
The biggest idea, is to join each other, meet up, and ENJOY being together and outside running again!
