The countdown is on! We're one week away from our Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Celebration at the Kalamazoo Farmers Market. Please join us in celebrating 35 years of the ADA, the federal civil rights law prohibiting discrimination against people with disabilities in everyday activities. The ADA guarantees equal opportunities for people with disabilities to be employed, purchase goods and services, and participate in state and local government programs.

This **free** community gathering will include a short program and is open to the public. Lunch will be provided, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. There will be plenty of accessible parking. We look forward to seeing you! RSVP HERE: https://loom.ly/unooyo8 or by contacting Miranda at (269) 345-1516 x120 or GrunwellM@dnswm.org

From Arc of the United States:

An Update on the Fight to Protect Medicaid
What happened?
The Senate just passed the budget bill, and it’s bad. The bill includes:
• Nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts. That’s about 20% of the federal Medicaid budget. It would cause nearly 17 million people to lose coverage.
• Nearly $200 billion in cuts to SNAP. Less food assistance means more people will go hungry, including millions of kids.
• A new private school voucher program that redirects public education funding to private schools. This will make it even harder for children with disabilities to access essential special education services.
Take action now to help us protect the very foundation of care and services!
What’s next?
The Senate and the House must agree on a final bill to send to the President for his signature.

This isn’t over yet, but this is serious, and we need your help.

Don’t stop calling and emailing your members of Congress. We still have time to reach the hearts and minds of members of Congress on what these cuts will mean to people with disabilities and their families.

Take ACTION:

Congress must act to protect Medicaid & SNAP for people with disabilities and their families! No one should have to go without needed food or health care. []

Annual CLO Picnic at The City of Portage MI Schrier Park was a success!

Not even a couple downpours could cut our fun short!

Thank you to the grill masters, the set up and clean up crew, the food servers, the game makers, and all the family, friends, clients, and staff that came out to join together for Community!

Everyone loves the Annual Picnic! Plus, a good ol’ game of whiffle ball and a few rounds of corn hole on the custom “refreshed” corn hole boards (check out the graphics!) brought it all together!

Thanks to everyone who came together to make it a wonderful day!

Lazy Summer Days are for fishing!
Great Care looks like Responsive Care: learning about our residents' interests, listening to what activities they want to do, and fulfilling requests!
This Farrell resident wanted to go fishing, so Howard, one of the Program Assistants, made sure to make it happen!
A day out at Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery and Visitor Center!
