I’m so pumped about art supplies! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 What a fantastic, whirlwind few days it has been in New Orleans! I’ve learned so much and connected and reconnected with so many truly amazing people. And I was fortunate to be accompanied by my eldest child, Matea, who has been working on creating my online shop - what a fun thing for us to do together!

And just look at all the supplies that I collected to gift to you all during my 3rd anniversary celebration in just a couple of weeks! Huge thanks to all the generous vendors for companies like Daniel Smith, Holbein, Sakura, Angelus, Kuretake, Legion and others who made it necessary to bring home an extra suitcase just for all these of supplies to celebrate another milestone for my little shop 🫶🏻

The shop is open tomorrow, Friday, 1-6 and Saturday 10-5. I’ll be back in the shop Saturday but Haley would love to help you in my absence tomorrow.

I’ve seen so many supplies this week that I’d like to bring in but how much I can grow the shop is up to you, so please remember to shop small and independent and help me continue to grow Kalamazoo Dry Goods.

Thanks for your patience on the hours update for this week! Having folks cover the shop for several days is hard for me but I didn’t want to close completely this week so I think this is a nice compromise. There will be no fabric cutting while I’m gone though!

I have a few things left to do before I go but one big thing I crossed off my list today was installing security cameras. I hate surveillance. Really hate it. But, sadly, this is necessary. Sorry to all the cool people out there.

Ok everyone, that’s a wrap on the week! I’m super excited about the next few days - tomorrow is my birthday and Tuesday I’m heading to New Orleans for a trade show and I can’t wait to see a bunch of other indie art shop owners and talk about indie art shop things, and to find out about new products and learn even more about the supplies I already carry.

Kalamazoo Dry Goods will be open in the afternoons Tuesday-Friday next week and I’ll be back with regular hours next Saturday. I’ll post the specific hours on Monday. Please don’t stay away just because I’m gone! I obsessively check on the shop while I’m gone and it does help me relax when I know you all are still coming in.

I’ve worked really hard this week to catch up and clean up and the shop is looking better than ever! I hope you come find some beautiful treasures here.

Good morning and Happy Halloween! I’m at the shop getting some fabric orders ready to ship, including this one that’s heading to Canada 🇨🇦 I said I was going to close the shop early today but my list of things to get done if I actually want to not work on my birthday is pretty long so we’ll see…I think it’s pretty safe to assume I’ll be here late tonight.

Someone was in the shop this week and mentioned that she hadn’t seen these bundles of 12”x12” wool sheets here before and I know it’s easy to miss them since there’s so much to see, so I thought I’d point them out. You all know I sell deadstock fabric, and especially wool. When I get to under a yard left on the roll I cut the rest down into squares that work for appliqué or with die cutting machines and I bundle them. It’s laborious but helps to keep any little bit of wool and wool blend fabrics out of landfills and you get better quality wool at a better price this way!

I hope you all stay safe and have fun today. I’ll be here if you need some supplies.

Ok I’m so sorry to post again today but I need to communicate some things!

First, please go buy some chocolates from my sister at so she’s too busy to come distract me from all the work I have to do 🤣 Joking aside, it was fun helping her pick out a Lamy Al-Star this morning and she would love to use it to write down your holiday truffle orders so give her a call!

The shop will close early this Friday (Halloween!) so I can hand out candy at home. I’m thinking 5 or maybe 6 at the latest.

More importantly, my birthday is this weekend so I’ll bring some cupcakes (or truffles!) or something on Saturday if you want to help me celebrate. 🎉 52! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Also, watch for reduced hours next week! I’ll be out of town for a couple of days so the shop will have shortened hours during the week.

Lastly, I hurt my back yesterday so obviously I couldn’t help but move a bunch of heavy things by myself today 😅 I made the fiber room a little more shoppable so you can find everything you need more easily. I wouldn’t say it looks *good* yet but it’s improving.

Thanks to everyone who came from so far away today to shop here! So many folks from Ann Arbor, Holland, and Grand Rapids! I appreciate you so much 🫶🏻

They’re all so pretty!!! 😍 A nice little shipment of pens arrived today. People often think these fountain pens are for calligraphy but really they’re just the smoothest daily writers you could want. (There are calligraphy nibs if that’s what you prefer, of course!) Kalamazoo Dry Goods also has some great notebooks in stock that pair beautifully with Lamy pens to achieve an exceptional writing experience.

Good morning. The street is apparently being torn up directly across from the shop this morning. South is still open but parking in front is not advised. If you plan to stop by please park further down the road. There’s also a little space next to my building if you can’t find a spot close by but please don’t park behind my neighbor’s house or block the driveway (it’s shared!).

There are some fun things happening this week and next so I’ll post separately about that but wanted to give you a heads up about construction first.

What a beautiful space has created! I fell in love as soon as I walked through the door and saw these stairs. I picked up a few treasures produced by Schmincke and Stoneground Paints that I’m excited about but I wish I lived closer so I could take some of their classes! So many workshops and events happening in such a lovely space.

I’m on my way home now and I’ll be in the shop 10-6 tomorrow. I look forward to seeing some of your beautiful faces.

Enjoying a quick trip to Louisville this weekend to see my adult kids and I got to squeeze in a visit to Artist & Craftsman between brunch and coffee. Perfect day! Tomorrow I hope to stop by Preston Arts Center before heading home.

I was feeling a little low this week but this shipment of watercolor pads and sketchbooks and notebooks gave me such a boost! Many have combinations of paper inside - like notebooks with both plain and dot grid sections, and mixed media pads with white as well as toned paper. They’re high-quality, gorgeous, unique, and highly giftable. I love them and i think you will too!

I’m in the shop until 7 tonight if you’d like to come see for yourself and have first pick of these beauties.

I also got a shipment of Felted Sky felting kits today as well as some fantastic, giftable supplies for children. I’m getting them on the shelves as fast as possible but until I get through them all we’re just shopping out of boxes as usual 🙂
