The Life Story of Bruce Vanderweele

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Bruce, who departed this life on Jan. 19, 2026 in Surprise, AZ. Bruce was born on Jan. 15, 1953 to John and Ruth (Sootsman) VanderWeele in Kalamazoo, MI. Bruce attended Parchment schools, where he participated in Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. In High School he earned Varsity letters in basketball and tennis. He attended Michigan Technological University and became a Civil Engineer. In 1986 he opened his own firm, VanderWeele Design Consultants in Kalamazoo.

George Haus, age 79, died with his wife at his side on January 10, 2026. He was born on October 18, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Anne Haus. George was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael (wife Barbara) and Ralph (wife Joyce), and brother -in-law, David Newlin. Surviving relatives include his beloved children, Samuel and daughter-in-law Sarah Newlin-Haus, Joseph Newlin-Haus and partner Monica Green, and grandchildren Liam, Kaitlyn, and Isabel. His nieces and nephews on the Haus side include Jennifer, Kelly, Michael, Ralph, Deborah, Celeste, and Joseph. His in-laws are Charles (wife Gretchen), William (wife Kim), Thomas (wife Deborah) and Kathy Kamo; nieces and nephews include Cedar, Alice, Esther, David, Stephen, and Maya.
