Exciting times at the WATCP Conference!

We had an amazing turnout at the Forensic Fluids Laboratories booth, where many attendees came to learn about the latest advancements in Oral Fluid drug testing.

FFL at the MATT conference!

Forensic Fluids sent some of our lab staff and toxicologists to the MATT Annual Meeting. FFL hosted and attended presentations, we made valuable connections...We accomplished a lot!

The Midwest Association for Toxicology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (MATT) is a non-profit, Midwest regional organization of science professionals who have overlapping interests in Toxicology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM). MATT provides a platform for exchange of information through newsletters and annual meetings at minimal cost to the members.

Forensic Fluids is now testing for Xylazine, a deadly drug that is gaining prominence in the U.S.

Xylazine is often abused as an additive to Fentanyl. Since Xylazine is not an op**te, Naloxone cannot reverse a Xylazine overdose. This results in increased overdose deaths involving Xylazine abuse in concert with other drugs.

Xylazine (or Tranq) is a veterinary drug that is increasingly being used as an adulterant to Fentanyl. The advantages of Xylazine as an additive to Fentanyl are that it is potent, easily available, and cheap. It can also prolong the duration of the op**te “high.”

Forensic Fluids Laboratories (FFL) is proud to announce that our very own, Matthew Levitas, MFS, D-ABFT-FT, has been invited by the Michigan Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission to serve on the Michigan Impaired Driving Task Force (MIDTF), with his term set to start this month.

The MIDTF is a collaborative effort aimed at reducing impaired-driving traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries and enhancing roadway safety across the state. The core mission of the MIDTF is to develop and implement strategies to address impaired driving, share valuable insights, and close potential loopholes in our impaired-driving laws.

Matthew and the team at FFL look forward to supporting impaired driving traffic safety initiatives and partners in our home state of Michigan with our preeminent oral fluid toxicology expertise. Congratulations Matthew!
