I am the new addition to the WMU Therapy Dog Clinic. I am training to be a therapy-facility dog for the Resiliency Center and an all-around good girl.

I’m very proud of my pile of frozen toys, which I very responsibly keep right outside the door so that I have my pick up each time I go out. They include a frozen stuffed animal, a ball, and a deer skull (my dad’s a hunter and I can only assume he left it in the backyard for me to find).

Back at it today, and my favorite session was with a young boy who played doctor with me. He worked on his writing and focus. Then we played many, many rounds of fetch! Resiliency Center for Families and Children

Our new digs are shaping up nicely! The WMU Therapy Dog Clinic is now in a nice spacious room on the 4th floor of Unified Clinics! We have room for snuggles, crafts, active play, and more!

Day in the life of a therapy pup (in training)…I set a personal record of 120 interactions at Bronson Methodist Hospital, particularly within the ER where this shot was taken. Things were busy today but I handled it all in stride…sirens, lights, beeping monitors, portable testing carts, rolling gurneys, crying babies, cops, and strained docs and nurses. This kind of access, typical of what service dog trainees receive, will help me become a confident and well-rounded therapy and crisis response pup!

Today I helped represent the various services available at Western Michigan University’s Unified Clinics, a multi-specialty outpatient clinic and training facility, which houses the WMU Therapy Dog Clinic. I had a great time making new friends and snuggling at the University Employee Benefits Expo!
