Many of you prayed for me a couple of years ago when I went to Harvester Island for a writers retreat with Leslie Leyland Fields. You know the impact it had on my life and how much I treasure Leslie’s teaching and writings Leslie has
a new book, Nearing a Far God, praying the psalms with our whole selves. Like all of Leslie Leyland Fields books, she brings you into a warm, welcoming and safe place. I know I can trust her honesty and wisdom. By her sharing her vulnerable and intimate thoughts, feelings and emotions allows me to do the same
In reading the introduction, today I resonated deeply. My personal goal of this journey is this “The joy of reconnection. I understood in a deeper way that God was with me, and that he has spoken into my heart through his Word.” Leslie’s words struck me to the core. My passion and love for Christ have diminished over the last few years. The loss of significant people, the pain and hurt in Christian ministry. I never walked away from God, I just never ran TO Him with my hurt and pain. I’ve felt His presence with me, but my heart has shut Him out. Yes this book, praying the psalms with our whole selves is a beautiful instrument to bring me back to loving God with the passion once knew.
