Okay so… give me some practical tips. Where can I start?

(1) Examine your role models. Which moms are you giving your admiration to and why? If you know them personally, consider that no two bodies or pregnancy/postpartum journeys are the same. If you don’t know them personally, how much of their life do you actually see? Are they a source of encouragement or discouragement?

(2) Find a couple pieces of clothing you feel confident in NOW. Not goal pants. Clothing that makes you feel good in the shape you are NOW - you don’t have to purchase a new wardrobe, just find a few things that help you speak kindly to yourself. Ignore the size - wear what FITS.

(3) Evaluate what you reasonably CAN prioritize. The self-care industry in and of itself can be a little overwhelming. You don’t need to change your entire diet, skincare routine and workout schedule. When you're having days that you feel lucky to take a shower or count it a win when you can get outside to walk to the mailbox - let’s take small and doable steps toward wholeness. Set yourself up on a good trajectory by starting small and building momentum.

There is much more to this conversation but these few things can hopefully allow you to take a deep breath and make one small step toward health and wholeness.

Dr. Steven Dischiavi has extensive experience working with professional athletes covers evidence-based, immediately-applicable skills related to pelvic floor rehabilitation for the athlete, covering treatment philosophies for the pelvis and pelvic floor and global considerations of how these structures contribute to human movement.

Topics covered will include urinary incontinence, as well as the intricacies of athletic movement and how energy transference throughout the kinetic chain is crucial to rehabilitation approach, injury prevention and high performance.

This course will also cover biomechanics behind human movement of the lumbopelvic-hip complex so the participant will be able to prescribe effective and innovative therapeutic exercise programs. The connection of how pelvic rehab influences LE pathologies such as ACL, PFP and chronic ankle instability will be covered.

Although this class has a focus on athletes, these concepts of biomechanics and movement patterning are applicable to all patients in the clinic.

Help us welcome Andrea Getts, with Land to Hand MT, to our ambassador team.

Learn a little more about Andrea below and help us welcome her as a volunteer!

"I love our community because it is my hometown - most of my family is still here and we all work to do our part in our community. Being able to experience so many great pieces of our town while growing up - the public parks and library, the schools, our community support of sports, etc has led me to want to be involved as an adult. There is magic in participating and showing up for your community and I want to demonstrate that through my job and being an active member in the Chamber of Commerce. I joined the ambassador program to lend my voice, experience, and skills and to be part of a group of people who care about this area."
