We are deeply saddened to share that Taku, the heart behind Heart wheels, recently passed away.

Over the past year, Taku turned his own journey into something truly meaningful for others. Through Heart Wheels, he personally delivered more than 3,000 Hot Wheels cars and countless toys, which were generously donated by VA Veterans and Seattle Seahawkers from around the world to our pediatric oncology patients. Each small gift carried a big message of hope, strength and connection.

We are honored to have been part of his story and will never forget the light he brought to so many.

Five years cancer-free and still celebrating strong đź’›

This week, we had the honor of celebrating Kai as he marked five years since completing treatment for neuroblastoma with no recurrence of disease. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do! Recognizing the symptoms of measles early is important in preventing the spread of this highly contagious disease.

Measles often starts with symptoms like fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes, followed by a distinct rash that typically begins on the face and spreads to the rest of the body.

If you or your child develops symptoms consistent with measles, contact your primary care provider before visiting a clinic or hospital.

Five years cancer-free and chasing big dreams đź’›

Luke recently celebrated a huge milestone, five years since completing treatment for acute myeloid leukemia, and he remains disease-free. Each year marks a lower risk of recurrence, and this moment is one worth celebrating. Now, Luke is headed to Indiana to begin seminary school, pursuing a dream that was once put on hold during treatment. His fighting spirit, strength and determination continue to inspire us all.

From one generous idea to a wave of kindness felt far beyond our community. Local cancer warrior Taku, a former coach and Boy Scout leader many at Logan Health know well, turned his love of Hot Wheels into Heart wheels , donating his personal collection to bring joy to kids in pediatric oncology at Logan Health.

Together with his caregiver Brenda and their group, the Seattle Seahawkers, that single act sparked something incredible. Over the past year, family, veterans and friends have sent shipments from near and far, even as far as Ireland and Florida.

We’ve now received more than 1,500 Hot Wheels cars, plus blankets, tracks, posters, and 3D toys.

And the generosity keeps rolling. Another round of cars will soon head to our regional outreach locations in Helena, Great Falls, Missoula and Bozeman.

Thank you to Taku, Brenda, and everyone who helped turn small cars into big smiles.

After 75 days in the Logan Health Children’s NICU, Brexton is officially a NICU graduate. He headed home with his mom, Morgan, and we’re so proud to celebrate this incredible win alongside them. Congratulations, Brexton and family!
