🕷️ We get it — ticks are gross and they’re on the upTICK this year!

👀 Found a tick on you? Don’t panic.
Watch the clip below to learn easy, safe steps to remove a tick.

DO:
🕷️ Use tweezers or a tick key (found at sporting goods stores or online, like Amazon)
🔎 Grab the tick right at your skin, as close as you can
⬆️ Pull straight up and out — resistance is normal
🫧 Wash the area with warm soap and water
🎯 Watch the spot — a small red bump for a day or two is normal
A bullseye rash is not
🩹 If you see any tiny pieces left behind, put on antibiotic cream. Your skin should push them out on its own in a few days.

🚫 DO NOT:
• Use fire, nail polish remover, or petroleum jelly
• Twist the tick — this can leave parts behind
• Squeeze or pop the tick before removing it

✨ CHEERS TO 18 YEARS, LAURA! ✨

We can hardly believe this day is here. Laura is retiring from the 🧪 Laboratory/Radiology Department at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center after 18 years with us!

When Laura talks about her time here, she doesn’t start with the job. She starts with the people. 🩵

She says she will miss her coworkers and the patients she met while working at patient registration. The support, teamwork, and kindness made each day special.

When we asked Laura what she would say about working at KMHC, she said:
🥰 “If you ever get the chance to work here....do it. I have never felt more supported than I do at KMHC.”

Now Laura is ready for her next chapter, becoming a full-time grandma to a grandbaby arriving this summer and traveling more often.

Thank you, Laura, for being such an important part of our workplace and our community. We will miss you very much!

🤲 Please drop a comment and help us thank Laura for all her years of service!

🧪💙 You’ve Got a Friend…in the Lab!

Our Lab staff play a key role in patient care every day. Their work helps providers make important decisions, and their dedication makes a real difference for our community.

We also loved seeing them wear fun “Lab Story” shirts last week—it was great to see their pride, teamwork, and positive spirit shine.

🥰 Help us shout out a huge THANK YOU for everything they do! KMHC would not be what it is without all of you.

🏙️ Big city healthcare is miles away. 🌲Rural healthcare is right HERE.

At Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, rural healthcare means caring for the people who live, work, and grow right here in our community.

In a rural area, getting care isn’t always easy. That’s why services like local dialysis and transportation support matter so much. We are so fortunate to be able to offer transport to our patients who have no other means to reach dialysis. These are life saving services and having them close to home makes a real difference for our neighbors and families.

✨We’re grateful for a community that believes in taking care of one another—and for the chance to give that care back every day.

Here, you’re not just a number.

You’re our community. 🩵
