Atherosclerosis is a cardiovascular disease characterized by lesions in the walls of arteries, leading to a buildup of plaque and narrowing of the arteries. This limits or blocks the flow of blood to vital parts of your body, which may include the heart and brain. Atherosclerosis increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

A recent preclinical model found that ingesting shell ginger essential oil reduces atherosclerosis through multiple mechanisms. The oil bound to receptors that regulate lipid metabolism and the inflammatory microenvironment. This suggests that ingesting shell ginger essential oil may reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.

Natural Pain reliever

Ginger is an excellent essential oil to apply to sore areas of the body. Topical application of ginger essential oil reduced inflammation and swelling better than ibuprofen in a preclinical model. The oil decreased COX-2, IL-6, and NF-KB expression and downregulated mRNA expression of IL-6, and NF-KB.
