💜 Join us for the 31st Annual Men's March Against Violence, Hawai'i at 11:30 a.m. on October 2 at ‘Iolani Palace.

This year, we march as “Men of Aloha” with compassion, courage, and commitment to ending domestic violence in our communities.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii is proud to sponsor this powerful event and celebrate one of our own: Jamie Ford, MD, Emergency Department chief and longtime advocate, who will be honored as Domestic Violence Action Center’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

Dr. Ford has been a steadfast voice against domestic violence, often serving as emcee for the march and providing care to survivors in the ED. His firsthand experience with the impacts of violence has fueled his dedication to being a role model — encouraging men across Hawaii to choose nonviolence as a way of life.

Let’s march with aloha.

💐 This week marks the start of Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month, where we join our employees, members, and communities in recognizing the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans, which includes those with ancestors from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean Islands, and Central and South America. Our colleagues and communities bring invaluable perspectives and expertise that strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional, culturally responsive care and fulfill our mission.

For years you've asked, and today we answer: Through an agreement with Renown Health, we plan to jointly own and operate a health plan and outpatient care delivery system that will bring Kaiser Permanente and its integrated care and coverage model to northern Nevada in 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health – which established the first hospital in Nevada in 1862 – will come together in a strategic relationship with a shared purpose: to provide to more people by improving access and expanding convenient, affordable care options in Northern Nevada. http://bit.ly/4mceGcC

Jeremy Masiclat is a hospital aide in Telemetry at Moanalua Medical Center and has been with Kaiser for two years:

“I put myself in my patients’ position. How would I want to be treated? Or if that patient was my son, how would I treat them? I put myself into their position first and then I just do what I got to do to help them out. Sometimes they’re alone. I work night shift. Sometimes they come from different islands and so they’re by themselves. So I feel what they’re feeling. If I’m here and all my relatives are out there, I don’t want to be neglected — especially if I don’t feel good.

For me, every time I go home, I want to feel accomplished. I don’t want to go home knowing that there’s somebody that I didn’t take care of or I left someone out.

One thing I learned working at the hospital is that I learned to appreciate life more. I learn to say ‘I love you’ to the people I love everyday. I call my mom, my sister, and my grandma. Because you’re not sure what will happen. You only live once and you just got to do it day by day. I’m just glad that for the people who feel alone at night … I’m just glad that I’m able to hold their hand and help them out a little bit. And when they remember me and say my name, it feels good. I feel accomplished.”
