Habilitat - Place of Change / School of Survival Habilitat Hawai'i is a long-term residential treatment facility located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Founded in 1971, by Vinny Marino, the organization is dedicated to helping individuals struggling with addiction and other behavioral health issues to overcome their challenges and build the skills and resilience they need to lead healthy and productive lives. Habilitat Hawai'i is based on a holistic approach to treatment that focuses on the individual as a whole, addressing not just the symptoms of addiction and other mental health issues, but also the underlying causes and contributing factors. The program incorporates a range of therapeutic approaches, including individual and group counseling, experiential learning, and life skills training, to help participants develop the tools and coping mechanisms they need to navigate the challenges of recovery. In addition to its core treatment program, Habilitat Hawai'i also offers a range of support services to help participants transition back into the community and rebuild their lives. We had the honor of welcoming Hirie, a local artist well known in Hawaiʻi’s music industry, who came to Habilitat to share her talent and put on an incredible performance for our family. Her music filled the space with joy, connection, and holiday spirit.
A huge mahalo to Hirie for coming out and putting on such a memorable show for the Habilitat family. We’re grateful for her generosity, her heart, and the energy she brought to our Christmas Eve ❤️
Moments like these are what make the season so meaningful.

As we welcome 2026, “Creating Your Own Destiny” is our trend of the year. Not as a slogan, but as a way of living. Destiny isn’t something we wait for—it’s something we build through our actions, our accountability, and the decisions we make when no one is watching.
What we choose today sets the direction for tomorrow. Here, we learn that growth comes from ownership, from facing consequences, and from choosing to keep going even when it’s uncomfortable.
2026 is about understanding that our future is directly connected to how we show up now. And at Habilitat, we choose to show up—fully, honestly, and with purpose.

🎄✨ Here’s a little sneak peek at our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day festivities. Families were able to come together and spend time with their loved ones, filling the space with laughter, connection, and genuine joy.
For many visiting Habilitat for the first time, there’s an immediate sense of family you can’t help but feel. As we look back, it’s hard to believe how quickly 2025 flew by — but moments like these remind us what truly matters. This Christmas was about togetherness, gratitude, and celebrating the journey we’re all on. ❤️

🦃✨ A Look at Thanksgiving with the Habilitat Family ✨🦃
Thanksgiving with the Habilitat family was filled with laughter, hard work, and, of course, plenty of good food. A huge shoutout to our amazing kitchen crew — not only did they serve up a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving meal for the Habilitat family, but they also prepared meals for other nonprofits in our community.
What makes this holiday truly special isn’t just the food — it’s the traditions we’re building. Every dish prepared, every table set, every shared conversation is a step toward the life we hope to one day share with our own families.
The beauty of Thanksgiving isn’t just in the holiday itself, it’s in the people we are becoming. It’s in the quiet changes our families notice in us, the growth that speaks louder than words, and the gratitude that fills our hearts. That is something truly priceless.
