Today Heritage Village and Lodge welcomed a team of volunteers from Maternity BVM's Camp MOSH 2025 who worked hard washing outside windows, picking up litter, pulling weeds, splitting overgrown lillies and transplanting them, filling large planters with soil readying them to be planted on Thursday, and assisting the residents with Bingo. Thank you, Camp MOSH!

Residents from the Village and Lodge attended one final mass with Father John Horan as he has been reassigned to St. Mary Immaculate in Plainfield. Father John has been volunteering to say mass weekly on Tuesdays at 3:15 during the school year for over a year and a half. After Mass he was presented with a St. Benedict Bookmark and a Cookie Cake while everyone got to say their goodbyes. Thank you and Best Wishes to Father John!

(In the future starting June 8th we will be having Mass on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 3:15pm)

The residents have recently enjoyed live music performances by attending The New Horizons Band Concert and having the following performances in our Main Lobby: The New Horizons Brass Ensemble, Rachel Reiter playing the Harp, and the 7th & 8th Grade Orchestra from Grace Christian Academy. This coming week we will have 2 piano performances (Claire Everitt and Lisa Hendrix) as well as Pete's Band.

We celebrated Skilled Nursing Care Week May 12-16th at Heritage Village. The theme was Tapestry of Life and each day was a different theme. We ate very well and had some fun.

Harlyn Schmidt (aka Deacon Dale) earned his keep today first by leading the Christian Worship Service at 11am, playing music for lunch at Noon at the Village, then entertaining at the Lodge at 1:30. So greatful to have him for a volunteer! (Attached are pictures from the Lodge.)

A couple highlights from this week. We had a St. Patrick's Day Party which included Deacon Dale leading a Sing-along. Also, the Lodge has some talented actresses who participated in our Drama Club/Reader's Theater. The title of the skit they performed was "Where There's Smoke...There Can Be Females" which was loosely based on one of our country's first female firefighters.

Heritage Village and Lodge are so blessed to have high school seniors from Bishop McNamera's Social Awareness in the Community Class come on Fridays to volunteer during their last semester. We have some students come during 1st hour at 8am and other students come during 8th hour at 2pm. The morning group does cleaning and organizing tasks while the afternoon group helps engage residents in various activities.
This past Friday the afternoon group played Penny Ante which allowed for everyone to get to know each other better.

Residents enjoyed a fun Mardi Gras Party playing games and enjoying King Cake with Purple Sparkling Punch. Barbara got the baby in her piece of cake and was named Queen of the Mardi Gras!

Congratulations to Jeff Kregor, Director of Environmental Services, for being named Employee of the Month for February! Jeff has worked at Heritage Village and Lodge for nearly 22 years. He was acknowledged for providing compassionate care, extending kindness to residents and families, and serving together with our team at Ascension Living Heritage Village. Jeff, we appreciate all that you do, and your commitment to our community!!!
