Not every home birth is as smooth and fast as this one was for this mom, but look at the PURE JOY on everyone's faces! 😍

Often times, a second time mom is shocked (even though we remind them often lol) about how much faster the second baby's labor is!

So when she had the baby 6 min after the midwife walked into the house, didn't make it into the birth pool she was kneeling against, but has a perfectly beautiful and healthy baby in her arms, what else can you do but REJOICE! For the LORD is GOOD!

Makes you want to tear up doesn't it? The mom, husband, and midwife beaming with joy! Her amazing Doula Amanda White was taking the photos and my incredible student midwife Marcia White Jankee was scrambling getting all of the supplies together in case we needed them!

The second photo is the mom taking a few precious moments to study her baby and process the lightening speed the baby came out in!

Home birth isn't always easy, but boy do we rejoice in the BUTTER BIRTHS! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

This past weekend, our region of birthworkers were extremely blessed to have the opportunity to learn from the incredibly knowledgeable Brooke Atkinson at Beautiful Birth Childbirth Services, about life saving safety protocols in case of a surprise emergency precipitous breech presentation in out of hospital births at our Spring New Eden Skills & Drills Day!

In North Carolina, CNM's are not permitted to attend known breech presentation for home birth and in birth centers. However, the reality is, even in the hospital setting, sometimes albeit rarely, babies turn unexpectedly right before labor begins! If birth is imminent and there is no time to safely transport to a hospital, then it is LIFE SAVING critical to know how to safely facilitate birth!

The truth is that doctors used to be trained on how to safely attend breech births. We ALL NEED to get back to this training, for the safety of the baby, who may be in the very act of being born!

Home birth is always exciting! Never a dull moment! Especially when there's a tight nuchal cord around the baby plus a short cord! But mama and midwife worked beautifully together to work it out, and as you can see this sweet baby girl was full of vigor and chunky cheeks😍!

Thankful for having one of our awesome Midwife Assistants Grace Ham to be there to make everything go smoothly!

Most importantly the Lord blessed this family with their second daughter, which her big sister is SO excited to finally have a little sister!

God is always so good in His faithfulness!
