💙Just wanted to share some auction items we have going to The Shop Cigar Lounge this Saturday, Sept 20 at 7p for the fundraiser honoring Deputy Elijah Ming. He was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty while protecting our community. He leaves behind a wife and young son.

I personally feel compelled to support his wife and son, thinking about how brave Deputy Ming was to work as a civil servant. My husband doesn’t get guns pulled on him while he’s trying to do his job. We owe so much to the Ming family for his bravery in trying to keep our community a safer place. Please reach out if you would like to bid on an item, even if you cannot attend in person Saturday.

Tickets are $75. All proceeds go directly to the Ming family.

🚒 Thinking about all of our brave firefighters, EMTs, and all of our first responders today. Thank you all for your service.

I’ve been thinking a lot this week about FF Graham Hoffman, Deputy Elijah Ming, and Officer Hunter Simoncic that we recently lost from Kansas City. I’ve been thinking about their families and their sacrifice and how grateful I am to have a job where I am primarily safe every day. I’m also reminded of the past heroes that we lost in the city. I remember working at the hospital as a nurse the day that firefighter Larry Leggio and John Mesh were injured in a fire and wondered if I would have the honor of caring for them once they arrived at the hospital. I still think about them, their parents, their wives, their children, their brothers and sisters.

As we remember the lives lost here in Kansas City in recent days, and as we honor the memory of September 11, we are reminded of the incredible weight these heroes carry and the price that is sometimes paid in the line of duty.

To every first responder—past, present, and those we’ve lost—thank you. Your service does not go unnoticed, your sacrifices will not be forgotten, and your legacy lives on in the safety and strength of the communities you protect.

May we continue to honor you not only in moments of tragedy, but every single day.
