Mrs. Deryl Elaine Gilford "BIG MOMMA" was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 5, 1956 to the union of Irene Smith and Willie Lee Smith. Deryl Elaine Gilford departed on December 2, 2023 in the comfort of her home with her devoted husband by her side.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents Irene and Willie Smith.
While growing up in Des Moines Deryl attended East High Graduating in the top 20 percent of her class. After graduating Deryl further her education at Iowa State University and in 1979 she graduated from ISU with her Bachelors Degree.
She later moved to Kansas City where she pursued her career as Director of Dietary. She worked and continued her education and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Baker University. She worked at Park Lane Medical Center, Suedexo and Research Medical Center where she was Director of Dietary until she became ill.
Although Deryl endured huge obstacles in her life she never let that affect her faith in Christ. Deryl was strong, masterful, loving and a child of God.
She leaves not to mourn but to celebrate her life: husband Tyrone Gilford, daughter LaNieca Colbert, five grandchildren JaKyiah & Londynn Otis, Cainan Levels, Treasure & Tranise Wilkins, four brothers Michael, William, Galen and David Smith, one sister Rochelle Smith along with a host of relatives and friends.

George Vance Davis, was born February 7, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Raleigh Sr. and Luevenia Davis. He was the seventh born of ten children.
He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at the age of twelve at Community Progressive Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Columbus Short, Sr. where he was a faithful member until his illness.
George, attended Southeast High School and was a star athlete on their Basketball and Baseball Teams. He led them to many championships throughout his high school career, George was selected as MVP in Basketball as well as Baseball.
He resided at Rockhill Manor assisted living community from 1990 until 2023, enjoyed the community and participated in many programs there he won first place at the Rockhill talent show sing "You ain't seen nothing yet" which was his favorite song. Due to declining health earlier this year he was transferred to Hilltop Long Term Care facility where on September 19, 2023 he was called from labor to rest at the age of sixty-six years.
George is preceded in transition by both parents; brothers Raleigh Jr. and Andrew Davis; sisters Gloria Mayberry, Barbara Burnell and Elaine Davis.
He leaves to celebrate his home going and cherish his memory brothers Larry Davis of Kansas City, Ks. and Curtis Davis (Leslie) of Kansas City, MO.; sisters Gennevieve Jobe of Hutchinson, KS. and Venia Davis of Kansas City, MO.
George also leaves one uncle and aunt. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
