🌟 Exciting News at Silverstein Eye Centers! 🌟
Dr. Steven Silverstein, MD, FACS, has always handled some of the most complicated eye issues, and now, in a rare and special case, he’s been asked to help a fine feathered friend—Bubo, the Eurasian Eagle Owl! 🦉
In Dr. Silverstein's own words:
“My most cooperative patient—Bubo! He is the largest species of owls in the world, only outsized by the female of this species. He is 23 years old and can live to nearly 70! He had a cataract extraction in Oklahoma and was left without a lens implant. He now has significant capsular fibrosis, and I am going to need to do a YAG laser somehow.”

Bubo is under the care of Birds of Love Inc, a wonderful nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and education about birds of prey as well as tropical birds. They provide a unique opportunity to meet these incredible birds up close and personal! To learn more, schedule an event, or make a donation to support their mission, visit Wings of Love, Inc. Here’s an amazing fact about Eurasian Eagle Owls: They have exceptional vision, thanks to the scleral ring that holds their eyeballs in place, preventing movement within the socket. This unique feature keeps their vision sharp, allowing them to see very well at night.
