“Bury Your Child, Then Tell Me to Move On”

Bury your child
then look me in my eyes
and tell me how to “move on.”

Bury the heartbeat that once called you “Mama.”
Fold their clothes,
smell the ghost of them in the fabric,
and tell me to “let go.”

Stand over a grave that holds your world,
watch birthdays come and go
without candles, without laughter
then teach me about “acceptance.”

Hold your chest when their name
slips out in a whisper at midnight,
when silence screams louder than any crowd.
Then preach to me about “healing.”

You don’t get to rush a mother’s grief.
You don’t get to time the tears
or label love as “stuck.”
Because I buried my heart
and it still beats for my child.

So bury your child,
then tell me I need to move on.
