We're back in Kansas and Missouri, but we left a piece of our 💙 in NOLA!

Last week, the Kansas and BT1D Missouri chapters had the opportunity to attend One Conference with other Breakthrough T1D staff, some of our incredible volunteers and board members, and researchers, advocates, and other people in the fight to end T1D. One Conference is a chance to look back at all of the research, progress, and breakthroughs being made every single day in the T1D space, and see how it impacts ourselves, our children, parents, siblings, family, friends, and loved ones as we come closer to a world without Type 1.

A very special shoutout to our St. Louis board member, Tyler Glynn, who was nominated for the Carol and Erwin Lurie Award. Tyler has exemplified strategic leadership, collaboration, and genuine commitment to Breakthrough T1D’s mission. A trusted board member and advocate, he actively participates in every meeting, lends his expertise to chapter strategy, and consistently represents the organization at community events. Congratulations again, Tyler!

And another special shoutout to YOU! To every single one of our volunteers, Walkers, Runners, RIders, board members, donors, sponsors, advocates, and anyone who has ever shown up for a T1D they love, and been a part of our community.💙

Come out for a fun night at Paddle Up with other St. Louis-area T1D adults! The St. Louis Adult Type 1 Meet Up will be held on April 8, 2026, from 6 -7 p.m. at Paddle Up, located at 17057 N. Outer 40 Rd., Suite 145, Chesterfield, MO. Afterwards, we will be heading to 4 Hands Brewery.

We ask that everyone please bring $10 to help with the cost of the 3 courts, and we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to Terrie Rolwes for donating her services to us for free lessons.
You’re welcome to bring your own equipment, or Paddle Up will let us use theirs for free, too. Family and friends are welcome!

Don’t forget TOMORROW’s Caregiver class!

This is a caregiver class provided by Kids With Courage Foundation and Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) for family members, friends, babysitters, and school personnel to learn the basics of type 1 diabetes to help care for a young child on a short-term basis.

The next class will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Corinth Library at 8100 Mission Road in Prairie Village, KS.
