We’re back with another ABA Myth vs. Fact!

ABA is often associated with early intervention—and while early support can be incredibly impactful, ABA strategies can support individuals across the lifespan. Teens and adults may work on things like building independence, strengthening communication, navigating social situations, or developing daily living skills that make everyday routines easier.

Like many areas of support, the goals simply evolve as the individual grows 🌱

If you’re curious about how ABA services can support your child or student, we’d love to connect. Send us a DM or visit www.summitaba.com to learn more

Happy National Read Across America Day! 📚

Today we’re celebrating the magic of books — and the many ways reading helps children grow. Reading builds language, strengthens comprehension, supports social-emotional development, and sparks imagination. It’s one of the simplest (and most powerful) ways to support learning at every age.

Reading aloud to children is especially impactful. Hearing rich vocabulary, expressive language, and storytelling helps build listening skills, attention, and connection. It’s also a beautiful way to slow down and share meaningful time together.

And here’s the best part: all forms of reading count.

Picture books. Board books. Graphic novels. Audiobooks. Looking through pages and talking about the pictures. Even a pre-reader flipping through a favorite story and “reading” it from memory is building early literacy skills. However your family reads — keep going. Every page matters. 💛

There’s nothing better than hearing that participants are loving the practical strategies and meaningful insights they’re walking away with!

Our very own Stacey Martin recently led her 3-day Verbal Behavior Bootcamp, Creating Intensive ABA-Based Verbal Behavior Programs for Learners with ASD and Other Language/Learning Challenges, in partnership with . This course, which she thoughtfully developed, equips educators to design and implement evidence-based ABA programs with a strong emphasis on building functional verbal language — including teaching students how to effectively ask for what they want and need.

We’re so proud of the impact she’s making and grateful for the opportunity to support educators across Missouri.

As we recognize Black History Month, we continue honoring the history, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders whose work has shaped—and continues to shape—the fields of psychology, education, and behavioral health.

Last year, we highlighted pioneers like Dr. Joseph L. White—often called the “Godfather of Black Psychology”—along with other influential voices who challenged the field to think more broadly about culture, identity, and human development. Their impact continues to influence the way children and families are supported every day.

At Summit, we know our work is stronger when it reflects the diverse experiences of the families and communities we serve. We’re grateful for the leaders who have shaped our field and for the opportunity to support families from all backgrounds with care, respect, and understanding. 💛

We love to see our team in action! This recent clip from shows our longtime BCBA and professional development expert, Stacey, doing one of the things she does best-engaging with learners!

From SCCD:

“During a recent supervision, she didn’t hesitate to jump right in and model a fresh way to play with a familiar toy-showing just how engaging a small shift in approach can be.

As a pillar of SCCD for 10 (yes, 10!) years, Stacey has consistently championed engaging with children in ways that maximize the fun in learning. She often reminds us that whatever lights a child up, step into it. Match their excitement. Embody their joy. That’s where meaningful learning begins 💛”
