In case you needed to hear this today (I know I did!).

You learned when you were younger to do things on your own to be and feel safe. If you’re in a safer space now, part of healing is learning you don’t have to do it alone. That there can be safety in community and others.

What are your resources for support that feel safe? What’s one small step you can take to connect to that support?

That’s one of the hardest things about change - it also includes crunchy discomfort. Even when it’s something you really want. Blah! 😑

And…being able to lean in, embrace and feel through the crunchiness will help you get to the smoother spaces that the change can bring.

What’s one small, crunchy part of a change you’re experiencing can you explore today?

Where does this resonate in your life?

Have you ever said “wow, I’d really like to do that,” and then wait years before you actually do the thing? 😂 That would be me waiting to take an improv class! 🤪

There were seemingly so many reasons why I “shouldn’t”: bad timing, what if it’s weird, I don’t know who’s going to be there, I’m in a bad mood, etc. And honestly, they were all valid reasons for my nervous system at the time. Doing it felt SCARY. Play did NOT feel safe, even though I craved it.

And still - the thought of taking an improv class was always in the back of my mind, like a fun, playful calling that kept popping up.

Then one day it just felt like the thing to do, so I did and it’s been SO MUCH FUN! 🤩

Here’s the main reason that moved me to take the leap forward: my nervous system felt safe enough to play again after years of feeling not so safe.

And it a took a LOOOOONG time and loving work to get to that place and internal feeling of safety and self trust to take that leap.

So a gentle reminder: when you see people taking what looks like big, bold leaps toward their dreams, know that getting to that place most likely took slow, gentle steps forward toward feeling safe enough to make that leap. Lots of time, lots of crunch. Lots of unlearning and pivoting. Lots of befriending their nervous system and all the parts that exist inside to keep them safe.

It’s a process that takes as long as it takes. No shame. It’s your nervous system and your own personal and lovely way of moving forward. When you’re ready you will.💛

Keep a list of resources you can go toward when things feel crunchy. Nature, friends, a walk, a stuffed animal, scents, soft things, a hug. You get to have resources on hand that include what feels safe and grounded to you when life is crunchy. What would you put on your list?✨

Hi there! It’s been a while since I said hi and told you a bit about myself - so…
