Today is National Physician Su***de Awareness Day. Along with other Kansas City-area healthcare providers, we want to bring attention to the warning signs and the stigma around asking for help.

More than half of U.S. adults will lose their physician this way at some point in their lifetime. The su***de rate for female physicians, is nearly 2.3 times higher than the general population.

If you’re concerned about a colleague or loved one, help connect them to the Physician Support Line at 1-888-409-0141 or the National Su***de Crisis Line at 988.

Who Should Apply?
The Midcareer Seminar is designed for physicians and scientists with a faculty appointment at an AAMC member school of medicine, with a minimum of two years of experience (from the date of the seminar) as an Associate Professor. Beginning with their first medical school faculty appointment, applicants typically have a minimum of eight years’ experience. Mid-career applicants should have demonstrated leadership ability that may include formal administrative, organizational (local or national), or other types of informal leadership roles. Applicants are strongly recommended to be considering, or in the process of, seeking promotion and advancement opportunities, as the curriculum focuses on the skills necessary for career advancement within academic medicine and science. Applicants of non-AAMC member institutions may be permitted to attend if space allows.
