Dr. Angela Barnett, faculty member for UMKC's SOM and Family Medicine Residency, received the Dr. Patricia Lebensohn Excellence in Integrative Medicine Education Award at the 2026 Integrative Medicine Conference in Tucson, AZ, on March 12-13, 2026. Dr. Barnett and Dr. Anna Maria Pletz also presented a poster while at the event.
Criteria for this award include:
The faculty member will have demonstrated excellence in Integrative Medicine education and a significant impact on the specialty of Integrative Medicine in two or more of the following ways:
• Development of exceptional Integrative Medicine education curriculum, including educational materials, within the residency through creative and innovative initiatives.
• Creation of novel structures and programming within the residency leading to sustainability of Integrative Medicine education for future learners.
• Sustained commitment to resident wellness through creation of programming, curriculum, or mentorship
• Mentorship and leadership within Integrative Medicine demonstrating a passion and commitment to promoting Integrative Medicine education.
• Passion for teaching Integrative Medicine and sharing and collaborating with other Integrative Medicine leaders through workshops, shared presentations, and other relationships.
