Our Story
Children who have experienced separation from their primary caregiver, neglect at home or in an institutional setting such as an orphanage or have been in foster care often have a difficult time settling into a family. They struggle with trust, empathy, amd self control. Sometimes these struggles create divisions in a family that wants nothing more than to give a child a home. MidAmerica Family Treatment Center works with the entire family through therapy, support and a rebalancing of the family system.
MidAmerica Family Treatment Center LLC and The Entire Family are joining forces to create a home like environment for families who are seeking reunification for visits, parenting education utilizing the renowned Nurturing Parent curriculum. Our parent aides help parents (and their families) learn new skills that will help them care for their children in healthier ways.
MidAmerica Families Treatment Center LLC understands that gender dysphoria causes a young person to feel ashamed and different as they do not identify with the biological body they were born with. We help the child/youth/young adult and their families to understand what they are going through and to move toward self acceptance and inclusion in their families and communities. Lynn Barnett, a licensed clinical social worker is both a parent of a transgender young adult and a therapist who works with the area gender clinics and support groups to help the entire family progress through this amazing journey together.
MAFTC is a medicaid provider in Kansas and Missouri so can provide services to foster families too.We are also in network with Cigna, Aetna, and United private insurance.
