☀️ One day just isn’t enough to show appreciation for our associates… 💞

Laquita, affectionately known as Q, has been dazzling residents of the Kingswood Health Center for over two years. It might be her fun blinged out ball caps or her full smile and quick laugh. But residents and their families note her ability to go above and beyond. Nurturing people comes easy to Q. She traded in a career as an in-home day care provider to be a Certified Nurses Assistant. 🧑🏽‍⚕️

Q says she just loves to take care of people. Loves learning resident stories and being a part of their day. She looks for reasons to laugh and is quick to offer a hand to a teammate as well. Residents appreciate her patience and her kindness.

🛼 Her zest for life keeps her busy. She’s a fixture at her two kids and twelve grandkids’ activities and events. She also enjoys roller skating, teaching line dancing and sewing and creating her own clothes.

While March 6th is employee appreciation day, that's not nearly enough time to celebrate our wonderful associates at Kingswood--so we start today! ☘️

Amid a table of bright green papers Cindy Jo Dean works patiently with residents as they create cheerful March collages. Their finished artwork will soon grace the walls of the Memory Care Neighborhood at Kingswood Senior Living in Kansas City, MO. Across the room other residents are peacefully enjoying a video performance of the Croatian cellist Stjepan Hauser and the rich warm melody fills the room.

Cindy Jo has coordinated activities in the Memory Care Neighborhood for over four years filling the community with her signature cheer and patient style. Her ability to make an ordinary Thursday afternoon interesting and to gently encourage residents is one of the reasons that Kingswood Assisted Living thrives.

Cindy Jo, who has degrees in biology, psychology and fine arts, became an activity coordinator after taking care of her Dad following his stroke. When he had trouble using his right side, Cindy Jo brought home velvet art kits. And the two spent hours creating beautiful artistic doodles. This lead to a career that has brought joy and purpose to Kingswood residents.

✝️ 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM with our own Chaplain Jamil and Ash Wednesday service at 4:00 PM

All faiths are welcome.

One of the many benefits of living in a retirement community is having spiritual support right at home. Faith services and pastoral care provide comfort, connection, and peace — especially during meaningful seasons like this. It creates space for reflection and prayer, surrounded by neighbors and friends who share life’s journey together.

Yesterday at Kingswood Senior Living Community, we took a trip from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to Bourbon Street! 🇺🇸🍷🎭

Residents gathered in Westminster Hall for Wine at the White House, a fascinating presentation exploring the wines served over the past 225 years — from Thomas Jefferson to John F. Kennedy. We discovered what was “in” and “out” at the President’s table and debated who may have been our greatest presidential wine connoisseur!

The fun continued in the Bistro with our weekly social hour — Mardi Gras style! 💜💛💚 Hurricanes were flowing, laughter filled the room, and the festive spirit was alive and well.

At Kingswood, lifelong learning and lively celebration go hand in hand. Cheers to good history, good company, and good times! 🥂

On Ash Wednesday, we invite you to pause, reflect, and begin the Lenten season with intention.

Our friends at Catholic Community Health will be offering 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨 in the Asbury Chapel from 10:30–11:30 AM.

Additionally, our own Kingswood Senior Living Community Chaplain, Jamil, will be offering the imposition of ashes in the chapel from 12:00–3:00 PM with Ash Wednesday service at 4:00PM.

This meaningful time of prayer and reflection is 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙨. Whether you are a resident, family member, team member, or part of the greater community, you are welcome to stop by.

We’re grateful to Catholic Community Health and Chaplain Jamil for providing these opportunities for reflection and renewal as we enter the Lenten season.
