Adrianna Deavon Castro-Tichenor, the middle child of three, was born on February 1, 2009, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, to Violet Collins (Tichenor) and Gerardo Castro. To the world, she was my sister—but to me, she was my best friend. Growing up with Adrianna meant always having someone to laugh with, someone to talk to, and someone who understood me in a way no one else ever could, through all the ups and downs, the good and the bad.
She was funny, warm, and always smiling. No matter what we were going through, Adrianna was always by my side—supporting me and loving me through everything. Some of my favorite memories are of us going to the park, playing house, and creating the craziest imaginary worlds with our little brother and cousins, where we could be anything we wanted to be.
Adrianna loved music more than anything. She was always excited to share new songs—most of them a little cringey—but I loved them because she loved them. We would listen to music and have dance battles, and I always let her win, because seeing her happiness meant more to me than winning ever could.
We did everything together. Wherever I was, she wanted to be, and wherever she was, I wanted to be too. I will always be proud to be Adrianna’s sister. Our bond is something that will never fade—not with time, and not even with death.
While in high school, Adrianna was already dreaming about her future. She planned to graduate early and attend esthetician school, driven by her deep love for beauty and wellness. These dreams brought her so much joy and gave her purpose as she looked forward to starting her adult life fresh and new. She loved learning about self-care and hoped to turn that passion into something meaningful.
She wanted to help people feel confident, relaxed, and beautiful—not just on the outside, but on the inside too. I know she would have excelled in this dream that was so close to her heart. It reflected exactly who she was: someone who always wanted to bring light, comfort, and confidence into the lives of others.
That love extended to everyone in her life, especially her friends. Adrianna loved them deeply and treated them like family. She had a way of making people feel seen, included, and supported, and her friendships meant everything to her. They gave her love, peace, and hope—things that could never be taken from her.
Adrianna was known and loved by many. Her capacity for love was unwavering and never stopped, even in the hardest moments.
Adrianna was preceded in death by our mother, Violet. She is survived by her siblings, Angelina Shannon, Brandon Collins Jr., and Ava Castro, along with a multitude of family members and friends who truly knew her and loved her for who she was.
Though our paths changed due to circumstances beyond our control, my love for her and our sisterly bond never faded—only grew stronger. Ever stronger. Lasting always.
Adrianna left this world far too soon, with so much more life, love, and light to give. Never forget her name. Speak it daily—in your heart, in your mind, and out loud for all to hear.
