Kansas City call center prepares for increased volume after the dedicated line for LGBTQ+ individuals will no longer be an option.

The 988 Kansas City call center is preparing for an increase in call volume now that the dedicated line for LGBTQ+ individuals will no longer be available.

"We want anyone who calls 988 to feel welcomed," said Dr. Kristin Feeback, President and CEO of CommCARE. "I want you to understand that moving forward, all issues will be handled on a local level, and we are well-equipped to assist with whatever needs you may have. Locally."

Starting July 17th, the dedicated line for LGBTQ+ individuals will no longer be an option and that means more calls to crisis hotline centers across Missouri.
