Excited to share that I will begin my new position as one of the Sacred Song Homebirth midwives beginning January 1st 2020! I’m so thrilled as I have been preparing myself for this for over 4 years now. And I have the best boss and midwife colleague to work alongside, Amber Cassaday Walla !!❤️😘
I will no longer be able to take doula clients for now, so my business will not be very active this year. But it’s all because I’m continuing to move forward and pursue the dreams of my heart ❤️
Thank you all for the support! I may post here and there still on this page if I have time :)
Oh and on another note, Baby Girl 🎀 Waldo #2 will also be making her appearance May 2020! We are so happy! 😊

This is a great visual for parents of what retractions look like in a newborn. Retractions usually occur because baby is struggling to breathe and be oxygenated adequately. With flu season approaching, take note of what to watch for!

Birth is beautiful and women are strong.
Today I am really appreciating collaborative care and the use appropriate medical interventions when need.
I’m so grateful women have the option to get an epidural.
I’m so grateful for the use of pitocin, vacuum, episiotomy, narcotics, nitrous oxide and cesarean section for when circumstances call for it.
I am someone who loves and believes in women’s ability to give birth free of intervention, but sometimes someone can do EVERYTHING right on their end to have a natural birth and it just doesn’t go the way they were hoping. And it’s no ones fault. Birth is birth in the end. And there is not one right way to do it.
Birth is beautiful and women are strong. I am so humbled and honored by all the women I have served and each unique birth story.

Checking baby’s position and nearing the end of holding this baby from the outside. ~ Midwives have trained hands they use to assess a baby’s position within the uterus during pregnancy. This information can be used to make recommendations to the mother for optimal fetal positioning techniques and exercises, or recognize when something isn’t as it should be. Sadly it’s becoming a lost art in the medical model. I’m always shocked when I hear women report that their provider never palpated their baby during prenatal visits.

Today for we’re sharing a bit from our doula, Sara, on breastfeeding her toddler. Thank you Sara for your willingness to be vulnerable with us. 💕
“Nursing a toddler. There are so many emotions I feel looking at this picture of me and my girl. First off I think how in the world did she get so big!? (Well, breastmilk in part lol) I am reminded of the early struggles of latching, ni**le pain and ni**le shields, engorgment and plugged ducts, sleeplessness and fatigue, tears of frustration as well as tears of overwhelming joy and bonding. Breastfeeding hasn’t been all easy nor has it been all struggle. It’s kind of like learning a partner dance at first. Two uncoordinated people learning something new that takes time to be in sync with each other. But as time goes by, the awkwardness fades and a rhythm is found.
There is nostalgia in nursing a toddler, looking back from where you’ve come, and ahead to an unknown time the journey will come to a close. It’s a special journey. No more special than another’s different journey, yet special because it’s your journey of how you’ve chosen to feed your little one. Today I am savoring these moments knowing time will go on and my girl will grow up and not need me in the same way. And the sacrifices I’ve made to breastfeed her will become a sacrifice to give up. ❤️”

This first time mama gave birth to her girl at home in water after lots of pushing effort. She did so with incredible strength and surrender!
