Each of these gentlemen plays a pivotal role in supporting our Volunteer Program here at the Kansas City VA. With different positions and unique strengths, they all share one thing in common — they are valued members of our team who truly help make the dream work.
Thank you, Bruce, Brian, and James, for your continued dedication and service to our Veterans. We appreciate you today and every day!

Charlie and Vicki Jamis exemplify the adage "the couple that volunteers together stays together" as they prepare to celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary in 2026. Having been a prominent part of the KCVA community, Charlie has volunteered for 29 years, while Vicki has volunteered for 22 years. They've undertaken various roles including serving coffee to veterans, acting as Representatives for the VA Voluntary Service Committee, and participating as recreation volunteers through hosting monthly bingo games.

Additionally, they played a key role as navigation and information volunteers during the pandemic which won them the 2020 Volunteers of Year Award. Most notably, they are recognized for their dedication and service to veterans at the Main Information Desk on Wednesdays. Vicki, always with a smile, ensures that no veteran walks the hallways alone, and Charlie spreads joy with jokes and smiles. Their contributions are invaluable, fulfilling the KCVA mission to provide exceptional service to veterans.
