We loaded up the bus, headed north, and came back with full hearts and unforgettable memories. 🚌🦅
Our recent adventure to the Loess Bluffs Wildlife Refuge brought us face-to-face with 101 American Bald Eagles, 15 deer, and one truly AMAZING experience we’ll be talking about for a long time.

There’s just something magical about fresh air, open skies, and sharing moments like these together. 💙 Experiences like this remind us that adventure doesn’t have an age limit—and neither does joy.

🎨 Resident Spotlight: Steve Link, Graphite Artist 🎨

Last week, we had the incredible honor of featuring the artwork of one of our residents, Steve Link — and we are still in awe of his talent and the beautiful story behind every piece.

Steve is a self-taught artist, first introduced to drawing during high school and college drafting courses. Years later, his love for art resurfaced when his children asked for animals, houses, and trees — and while Mom drew stick figures, Steve brought their imaginations to life with stunning realism.

After life brought career changes and unexpected challenges, Steve returned to drawing through online tutorials and found inspiration in the graphite work of artist Mike Sibley. Between 2008 and 2011, Steve created a collection of incredibly detailed graphite pieces that truly capture the beauty of nature and the world around him.

More recently, Steve’s wife, Dianna, revisited his portfolio and knew his artwork deserved to be seen and preserved. With help from their granddaughter, Shiloh, they began having the pieces professionally framed — and what you see today is the result of that love and dedication.

We are so grateful Steve chose to share his work with our community. It’s not only art — it’s a legacy meant to be shared.

Our incredible team works together to make the evening truly special — from the thoughtfully prepared meal to the festive touches, all while donning our Christmas best.

It’s more than just a dinner. It’s a night to slow down, enjoy one another, reflect on the season, and feel grateful for the community we share.

✨ It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! ✨

The past couple of weeks have been filled with laughter, togetherness, and so much holiday cheer. From enjoying a delicious dinner at Cascone’s before heading to Church of the Resurrection’s beautiful Christmas program, to taking in the magic of Union Station’s Holiday Reflections exhibit, every moment has reminded us how special this season is.

We were also delighted by the Platte Purchase Middle School Honors Choir, whose Christmas carols filled our hearts and halls with joy. 🎶❤️

We’re grateful for every moment and the happiness they bring to our community.

Out & About 🎭🍽️

We’ve been enjoying some great outings lately—from a trip to the theater to see Wicked: For Good to a Men’s Lunch Out at Grunauer for classic German cuisine. Good food, great company, and experiences worth sharing made both days especially memorable.

Good company, shared experiences, and time well spent. This is what independent living looks like when life is lived fully.

✨ Moments of joy, connection, and creativity filled The Neighborhood this week.

We enjoyed a little self-care in our in-house nail salon—complete with beautiful colors and lots of smiles—followed by a visit from Julia, who brought Expressive Art Therapy to life dressed as Mary Poppins ☂️💙

There was laughter, music, creativity, and plenty of pride as we admired freshly painted nails and shared time together. These moments may seem simple, but they’re deeply meaningful—and they reflect the purposeful living we embrace every day.

This is life in The Neighborhood. And it’s filled with warmth, dignity, and joy.

Nothing like a fall road trip! 🍁

Last month, we loaded up the bus to spend a beautiful day in Iowa exploring the Bridges of Madison County and visiting the John Wayne Birthplace & Museum. Stunning scenery, great company, and lots of smiles along the way!

Our Story

Pat and Judy McCrite joined their lives more than 45 years ago, built a family and strengthened their commitment to each other every day. That commitment to family was the foundation of McCrite Plaza, the modern forward-thinking senior living community they founded in 1975.

Compassionate caregiving has always been a part of their family. Pat’s mother worked in senior housing, and Judy worked in early childhood and special education. All five of their children found their life purpose in senior caregiving. All are involved in the family business.

The decades have brought changes, but the McCrites’ commitment to providing the kindest and most loving service has stayed strong.
