The Trager® Approach (often called Tragerwork) is a form of bodywork that uses gentle, rhythmic, rocking and stretching movements to create a sense of lightness, ease, and freedom in the body. It’s not a deep tissue or “fix-it” style massage, it’s more of a neuromuscular re-education. The therapist gently moves your limbs in pain-free, repetitive motions, which “teaches” the nervous system to release tension patterns and move more freely.

Key components:
- Gentle, non-forceful movement: no deep pressure or painful work.
- Mind-body connection: the goal is to reprogram habitual muscle tension at a neurological level.
- Self-care element: clients often learn “Mentastics®,” simple self-care movements they can do at home to keep the new ease and fluidity.

Meet Renee, a wonderful addition to The Metropolitan Spa team!

Rene Tyler is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Trager Practitioner with over 11 years of experience helping clients find relief from pain and tension. She uses gentle, targeted movement and soft muscle manipulation to address a wide range of conditions, always treating each client as a whole person. Her four years of advanced Trager training have further enhanced her ability to promote deep relaxation, improved mobility, and lasting comfort. Rene was first inspired to pursue massage therapy through her autistic daughter, Olivia. She noticed the positive effects of applying lotion and became fascinated with the powerful connection between the body and brain. Over the years, Rene has earned the respect of both clients and fellow massage therapists for her skill, intuition, and attentive listening. She has worked in both spa environments and as an independent practitioner, and she brings her love of creating a calming, supportive atmosphere to every session. When she’s not in the treatment room, you’ll often find her painting flowers, a hobby that reflects her appreciation for beauty and detail.

Guided by a calling to serve others, CJ blends a peaceful demeanor with a caring, intuitive touch in every session. His work is enriched by years of mindfulness and meditation practice, including experience as a meditation facilitator. This foundation allows him to bring a calming presence and heightened awareness to all of his massage modalities, creating space for both relaxation and renewal. Outside the treatment room, CJ enjoys yoga, contemplative reading in the park, and savoring the simple beauty of life, from a good cup of tea to the smell of the air before a rainstorm. He believes in meeting each client with presence, compassion, and the intention to help them feel truly seen and cared for.
