Help us thank the Overland Park Host Lions Club for their recent battery donation!

We are so thankful for all the support we receive from organizations like the Lions Club, who help supply and support children with visual impairments, and their families, with the tools and resources they need to reach their highest potential.

If you'd like to support our community, consider volunteering with us at the upcoming CCVI Trolley Run! https://lnkd.in/gpWamNYF

March is Social Worker Appreciation Month and we are SO thankful for our Clinical Social Worker!

Kiara Ohle has been with CCVI for over 2 years and is continuously making an impact across the organization. From offering one-on-one support to families, supporting new socio-emotional groups/programs, and being a helping hand in the classroom and community, the impact of her work goes on.

We are thankful for the vast knowledge she has in her own field, but also her desire to expand her education in the field of vision.

Last week's Storytime took us on a tactile adventure to the 3 little bears!

During our Sensory Friendly Storytimes, each story is accompanied by tactile elements from the story to give children, especially those with visual impairments, a more immersive experience of the story. Tactile elements (like the different sized bears) help children better understand the story and relate it to real life.

Join us next month on March 20th at 10:30 for another fun storytime with TVI Sarah Smith!

Let's modify some writting utensils!

Modifications like these are great for children (or adults) who may need some extra assistance or motivation when it comes time for writing or drawing!

Which isyour favorite modification?

As a parent, it’s important to remember to give yourself time and love. At last week's Parent Night, Kiara Ohle helped our families do just that.

Covering Caregiver Resilience, our families came together to learn different skills and mindful practices to support regulation, embodiment, and moments of calm. We hope all our families feel empowered to use the skills they’ve learned to find a sense of peace in the craziness of daily life.

Please join us for our next Parent Night on March 15th for an exclusive presentation from Vera Jones “The Empathy Coach”!
