Heartland Center held our first fundraising golf tournament this past Saturday and I felt like it was a great success. We learned so much from this experience and frankly I am excited to see how we can do this event again next year and apply all that we learned.
I certainly want to thank all of our sponsors who made this possible but I especially want to thank and acknowledge those who put in the work. I know many others contributed significantly and in no way am I wanting to forget those staff or their efforts towards the event and its success.
However, the following individuals had such an incredible direct impact on the event this past Saturday that I am compelled to give them a shout out. Julie Shelton got this whole thing started and in so many ways her effort was the catalyst for everything else. Julie did the leg work to pick a date and find a course and did so much of the original planning and this could not have happened without her making it a reality. The volunteers that worked, and I mean worked hard, this past Saturday were amazing; Michael Phelps, Chuck Liston, Jared Petersen, Kierra Martin, Timothy Niehay Tami Hull (and her husband Pat), Shaney Othic, Susanna Renno, Becky Pellham, Casey Spartz, and Shawna Drake all came and helped with set up, registration, and so much more. We had Board members who supported us by playing; Joshua Wunderlich, Brad Forbes, Volunteering: Jan Burgess, and sponsorship, Chris Albright.
I sincerely hope I didn't miss anyone but if I did please know that there were many more that contributed greatly in the planning and cold calling for sponsorships, arranging food, and organizing the games and prizes and I know that it took a lot of work from so many people to pull this off.
Thank you all for your contributions to this first ever event. I'm already excited for next year's event.
