“Joy is the mostly invisible, the underground union between us, you and me, which is, among other things, the great fact of our life and the lives of everyone and thing we love going away. If we sink a spoon into that fact, into the duff between us, we will find it teeming. It will look like all the books ever written. It will look like all the nerves in a body. We might call it sorrow, but we might call it a union, one that, once we notice it, once we bring it into the light, might become flower and food. Might be joy.” - Ross Gay
lately, i’ve been noticing how tricky it feels to make simple small talk. “how are you?” i always find myself laughing in response, like, where to even start?!
but when i feel into it, the answer for us is: good. really. things might be nuts, + very dynamic, to say the least. but we feel held + supported by this community, moreso every month. we are deeply grateful for the privilege, blessing + gift that is tending to this building, community, land + sacred work.
i’m tracking this as a sincere vulnerability around sharing / being seen in my joy. it seems so much easier to default to grumbles + complaints, which often pale in comparison with the atrocities we’re witnessing in so many places around the planet or here close up. yet, i wake up with such excitement every day, truly! even a flooded sink or fritzing AC unit + the whole convoluted process of repair can be so rich with learning, connection + growth.
the joy of living our daily lives, ever more accessible because of healing + practice, is why we pour so much love into Community Movement. we know that the freedom to gather, to move our breath together in all the ways available to us at IS, whether in class, as clients or at a market or event, is one of the things that makes human life so sweet.
thank you to all the wonderful folks who have supported our fund-raiser - link in bio! it’s not too late! thank you to our marvelous teachers, gorgeous students + everyone else who makes this space such an oasis. we’re so grateful that devotional stewardship to land + learning gets to be our work.
thank you for moving with us!
