Experiencing cloudy or blurry vision from corneal swelling?

Adults 18 and older may qualify for the ASTRA clinical research study, which is evaluating an investigational therapy (AURN001) for corneal swelling caused by corneal endothelial dysfunction.

The study is designed to learn whether the investigational therapy may help reduce corneal swelling and improve the clarity of the cornea. Because AURN001 is investigational, results are still being studied and cannot be guaranteed.
• No cost for study-related visits or procedures
• Participants may receive compensation for time and travel

Contact us to learn more: 816.420.3961

Caution:
AURN001 is an investigational therapy and is not approved by the FDA. Participation is voluntary, and you may leave the study at any time.

A milestone worth celebrating at Moyes Eye Center!!

Did you know there is a severe global shortage of corneal tissue? For every 70 people in need, only ONE donor cornea is available. Dr. Boyce and the NPSC team performed their very first stem cell procedures, using a single-injection treatment as an alternative to a traditional corneal transplant.

An exciting step forward in research. To learn more or connect with our research department, call 816.420.3961.

2026 is proving to be an exciting year for clinical research at Moyes Eye Center! The team attended two Investigator meetings in Dallas, TX for important scientific advancements in ophthalmology. At each meeting, study coordinators received essential protocol training and guidance for bringing these advancements to qualifying patients.

In February, Bausch & Lomb provided the attendees with historical, educational, and meaningful discussions about their past, current, and upcoming products for dry eye patients.

In March, Aurion Biotech presenters shared incredible stories about the work they’d done to bring injectable corneal treatments to patients in El Salvador. The fascinating science behind the ABA-3 study originated in Japan, where the treatment has already been approved and provided for at least 250 patients.

Did you know the first artificial intraocular lens was implanted in 1949 (shown in the first picture)? British ophthalmologist Sir Harold Ridley performed the first successful IOL surgery after noticing WWII pilots tolerated PMMA fragments in their eyes, a discovery that transformed cataract care forever.

At this month’s Lunch & Learn, Dr. Kam, shared how that innovation shaped the advanced vision options we offer today.
