Why would we check your eye pressure?
Eye pressure helps detect glaucoma early, often before symptoms appear. Glaucoma can quietly damage the optic nerve and cause permanent vision loss if left untreated. A simple pressure check, combined with other eye exams, helps protect your vision for life.

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month - Let’s Talk About It!

Glaucoma damages the optic nerve, which carries visual signals from the eye to the brain. An estimated 3 million people have glaucoma, yet only about half are aware they have it. Because early stages often have no symptoms, glaucoma is known as the “silent thief of sight.”

Without treatment, vision loss is progressive and irreversible, making early screening essential to help preserve sight.

At Moyes Eye Center, LASIK days are some of our favorites, there’s nothing like watching patients experience clearer vision! This patient showed up proudly sporting a Chicago Bears sweatshirt, which couldn’t have been more perfect since Dr. V is Chicago-born and a huge Bears fan. Our doctors never miss a chance at a selfie!

After Hurricane Melissa left devastating loss across Jamaica, Dr. Moyes and a few from our Moyes Eye Center team traveled there and performed 27 cataract surgeries for individuals who had been living without clear vision.

One of the staff members we work closely with, Jodi-Ann lost her entire home during the hurricane and is now staying with family as she works to rebuild.
