We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have generously donated beautiful Easter baskets to support the Alzheimer's Association. The baskets are showcased now in Assisted Living for one week and then in Independent Living leading up to our Easter Parade, Egg Hunt & Basket Raffle on March 28th starting at 1:00pm. Raffle tickets are available for $1.00 each or $5.00 for six tickets. Winners do not need to be present to win. Our appreciation goes to families, business partners, and associates for contributing to this fundraising effort.

Alpaca painting was the Memory Care craft this week as we continue to learn about Lima, Peru. The highlands of Peru are home to one of the world's most unique and enduring cultures, and at the center of it all is the alpaca. Known for their soft wool and gentle nature, alpacas in Peru represent more than just an animal. They are the symbol of the country's rich heritage and connection to the land. Our Assisted Living community consistently enjoys Bingo as a favorite weekly activity. Residents can rely on playing Bingo at least twice a week. During rainy weeks, we engage ourselves with a range of challenging Bingo games. The 'postage stamp' design is an enduring favorite. On alternate weeks, in addition to regular prizes, our residents may pick prizes out of the "goodie bag." Starting next month we plan to additionally offer "Super Bingo" which will include playing multiple cards and a wider variety of game formats with a faster pace.

The journey through Barcelona, Spain, progresses. Yesterday's session focused on the Mediterranean Sea and the different jellyfish species found within it, notably the Barrel, Mauve Stinger, and Fried Egg Jellyfish in the deeper regions. It was noted that the escalating sea temperatures and climate change are linked to the surge in jellyfish appearances along Spain's coastline. This newfound understanding prompted residents to engage in painting jellyfish, with each artwork beautifully capturing the movement inherent in these marine animals.

Wexford Place is committed to promoting fitness and wellness, and we were excited to work with Legacy Healthcare Services' Therapy Team to organize a Fitness Discovery Day. This event provided our residents with an excellent opportunity to engage with therapists and discover the benefits of various fitness equipment, including the Zibrio machine, which assesses balance, the Senso machine, designed for interactive coordination, the NuStep, ideal for low-impact cardio exercises, the Shape Master machines, which foster gentle strength and circulation, the Hand Grip, aimed at improving manual dexterity, and Rock Steady Boxing, focused on functional agility. The afternoon was both educational and active, and we thank Legacy Healthcare Services for their valued contribution.
