Are you a parent that is feeling exhausted, frazzled and just plain pooped? I love helping empower parents to find creative ways to handle the challenges they see at home. Check out my blog post to hear more about how I can help you find your fun again!

I saw this graphic today and it captured so much of what I teach parents. When we can make the sometimes challenging transitions more playful, kids feel safer, less likely to get into a power struggle, and often aren’t even aware they are doing the thing they usually protest! Bedtime, bath time, t

I love when kids know they can always come back for a check in. Sometimes life presents us with challenges that cause lots of feelings. Today this kiddo and I drew his “mixed up feelings jar” to process his emotions.

The playroom is a powerful place! I see a darling little boy whose anxiety kept him from uttering a word at preschool or outside of the home for months! And, you guessed it, he didn’t speak a word in our first session. As a play therapist I’m trained in how to build trust and safety in my playroom and those two things alone can work magic! I have now seen him about 8 times. The first few sessions were baby steps. He eventually would whisper a word here or there. I never pressured him to talk. But through non verbal activities, acceptance, and him choosing the same, familiar activities each session, he began to feel safe and gained a sense of trust. He began to talk to friends and teachers at school, talks my ear off in session, and even introduced himself to some adults in a store! This little kiddo is blossoming! I am honored to be a witness to this and enjoy that cute little voice each week!

I’m gonna guess not many therapists can say they work with a client who has their own sandtray room!!! Love doing virtual sessions with this sweet girl. Sandtrays are a technique used by trained therapists to process various feelings. One of my favorite interventions to use with children and families!
