I'm super excited to be starting back up the women's group TRIBE at Brookside Anxiety in Jan 2025. TRIBE is a skill and support group for women - learning, experiential exercises, and discussion. This go round will be focused on ACT skills with a feminist focus. The first few sessions will be foundational - introduction to basic ACT and feminist principles. After that, excited to address topics like:
"mom rage," mental load, division of labor
"it's all in her head" - gender differences in mental health
invisibility as women age
body image/diet culture
menopause/women's health
"girl bossing"
devaluation of care work/"sandwich generation"
boundaries, especially how to set them
REAL self care

Bringing evidence-based treatment to KCMO

My work is a vocation. I offer evidence-based care because I want to do what works and believe everyone deserves a gold standard of care. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is structured, active, and collaborative to foster resilience and flexibility. Negative emotions, unhelpful thoughts, and difficult situations are unavoidable, and “the price of admission to a meaningful life.” These experiences can be challenged, accepted, and managed in an effective manner. It is a privilege and joy to guide and witness others’ adaptation, courage, and growth.
