Our Story
(Dara) I am married to my dearest friend of 30 years and am living a "dream come true" as the blessed mother of 7 amazing children and a grandmother to 3. When my husband and I started our family in the late 80’s, I instantly fell in love with pregnancy and motherhood. With our first pregnancy we read a lot and we prayed a lot! Inspired by the wonder of natural childbirth, we hired our first midwife in 1989, and we were blessed to give birth to all 7 of our babies in the peace and safety of our home. I was hooked by this beautiful miracle called childbirth. As the years went by, more and more of my friends requested my help when it came their time to give birth. Not realizing that I was being a "doula," my heart came alive as I gave these women what my heart and my body desperately needed as a laboring mother. I was so honored to know these young mothers desired my presence and assistance during their labors! When I learned that "doula" meant "servant," I knew that I had found my calling, because to me, being a doula was simply being a faithful friend who humbly serves. Through the years, I’ve taken that love for serving laboring women, and I've added 25 years of experience, education, and skills to better serve the moms who hire me. I have experience as a childbirth assistant, birth doula, childbirth educator, and postpartum doula. 3 years ago, my daughter, Joy, joined me in my love for birth, and she became a Cappa Certified Post Partum Doula. Together we care for mothers from pregnancy all the way through the "fourth semester" called the postpartum season. Our goal is to serve mothers in a spirit of excellence by creating an environment of comfort, peace, and confidence! It would be a joy and an honor to serve you!
(Joy) When I was 16 my mother invited me to accompany her to a homebirth as a photographer. Until that time, I had never considered birth as a career choice that would interest me. As I witnessed this young mother persevere through labor and give birth amidst tears of joy, I was swept up in the uncontainable surge of emotions, and I knew I was hooked for life. Since that day, I’ve been actively pursing education, experience, and skills to serve and support new mothers. I’ve been a postpartum doula for the past 3 years, and I absolutely adore caring for my clients.
