Follow for some exciting things coming this spring! Repost: Sometimes your only option is to survive. That's a scary place to be. It makes us anxious and so we over-focus on our tough luck. We make it about us. We start to overthink now: taking all the things that have happened to us and interpreting all the things we think other people feel ABOUT US. We’re really good at that.

This is where your endurance serves you well. We must muster the energy to move past those stories, the avalanche of self doubt and criticism that can make survival-moments even more miserable. Be your own referee. Blow the whistle when the avalanche of overthinking hits. Surviving is hard enough.

Ready to level up your private practice? We want to help!

✨Check out our upcoming branding + coaching workshop✨

Lily and I have formed TherapyCorps to help clinicians attract clientele, eliminate client attrition, and feel empowered through your branding!

We hope to see you soon!

Many of you know the lovely Caylen Sunderman, M.S., LMFT and if you don't, then lucky for you we've joined forces to create a one-day accelerator to teach you guys about the TherapyCorps system for getting and keeping clients.

We are so excited to share with you what we've learned about growing a practice. Caylen owns Moss and Main (where I practice) and has impressively built an amazing practice of her own with knowledge that she's now passing on to ya'll!

We developed the TherapyCorps process to build therapy practices into real businesses. Step by step, you’ll learn the basics of getting new clients, branding, curating an effective web presence, and sustaining your clients.

The seminar will review the importance of a succinct website and corresponding social media links. Branding will be discussed as a tool to further communicate yourself to potential clients. Attendees will better understand how to show up online more effectively and how to give therapy without the intrusion of impostor syndrome. Learn more at therapycorps.org.

Michael Shahan - LMFT and I completed teaching our first virtual CEU training today! We had two sessions, today’s focus being each Enneagram type’s unique polyvagal response. We unpacked each Enneagram type’s core fears and desires, their perception of threat, how they are mobilized when threatened, and how each type will look in threat versus health. We have scheduled our advanced training for August 28! We’ll dive into the instinctual variants and childhood wounds of the core types, as well as how to map Polyvagal responses, vagal tone, and the vagal brake!

I can relate. Can you?

The only comforting factor is that general confusion and distress are part of a normal human experience right now. We’re all walking around messy, tired, and unsure.

Give yourself compassion. Give others grace.

Get better at being messy together.

There is no doubt you’ve been hurt, and there likely IS someone to blame. We hurt each other in relationships, we just do.

It’s what happens when two humans care about each other, and it’s often unintentional.

As Mark Manson says, fault is a past-tense focus. Because it involves no accountability for the blamer, the blamer is stuck in powerlessness and victimhood. There is little growth within a fault mindset.

Taking responsibility for your injuries is a present and future momentum. We heal and grow when we take responsibility for ourselves and our lives, and that can begin at any moment.

When you face the hard things, and you heal and grow without any help from those who injured you, you take your power back.

You become resilient, emotionally flexible, and clear on who you are to the core, and no one can take that from you.

You step in to your personal brand of bad-assness! 💪🏽
