The upcoming closure of maternity services at HCA Research Medical Center on September 8 could deepen racial disparities in maternal health and limit care for Kansas City families.

Our Chief Executive Officer, Tracy Russell, and a Healthy Start mom who delivered at Research discussed the impact with Cody Holyoke on KMBC 9’s Heart of the Matter.

Maternity services will close at HCA Research Medical Center on September 8th. Tracy Russell with advocacy group Nurture KC and a mother who gave birth at Research discuss the gap in care the closure creates, and the racial disparities in maternal care that the closure may make worse.

A beautiful afternoon with one of our Healthy Start moms at the Giving Grove community garden at Park 39! 🌳🍎

Mom-to-be is due in September and stopped by for safe sleep and car seat education. Afterward, we took a walk, picked a few apples, and enjoyed the fresh air. 💙
