KC Yoga Coach Wellness Jules, LLC Julianne Hutchcraft, RN, BSN, C-IAYT Yoga Therapist, E-RYT, YACEP and Ayurveda Yoga Specialist currently resides in Kansas City, MO.

Julianne Hutchcraft, RN, BSN, C-IAYT, E-RYT,YACEP, AYS offers Yoga Therapy, Workshops, Retreats, Thai Yoga Therapy & Yoga Education, specializing in non-pharmacological pain care as a certified yoga therapist. Julianne began her journey in health care in 1998 as a Registered Nurse, caring for patients who were in the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Unit, and Emergency Room. In 2007, she began to experience her own health crisis which eventually led to a significant career change. But first her time and energy was consumed with her own search for wellness. As Julianne began to explore yoga and the health benefits for herself, she discovered a new opportunity to build upon her nursing background. After a few years of practicing yoga and experiencing the transformation that takes place with consistent practice, she completed her 200-hour Yoga teacher training in 2010 with Theresa Murphy & Tias Little at One Tree Yoga, in Omaha, NE, through the Prajna Yoga School, with guest faculty Amy Matthews, Alakananda Ma, M.D. and Dean Sluyter. With a lifelong appetite for learning, she continued to seek more study and in 2011 completed her Health & Wellness Coach training through Wellcoaches. Combining her passion and deep appreciation of yoga with her coaching skills allows her to uniquely connect with groups and individuals to support a whole, balanced and healthy lifestyle.

โ€‹Over the years she encountered many people struggling with pain. In 2015, Julianne began Thai Yoga Therapy training to enhance her skills set in healing myofascial pain, limited range of motion and injury. Using a "Coaching the Body" approach of combining the ancient healing art of Thai Yoga with modern pain science and trigger point therapy calls to her deeply. She continues to study this revolutionary approach of non-pharmacological pain care under the founder & creator, Chuck Duff at The Coaching the Body Institute in Evanston,IL. In December of 2019, Julianne completed the 800-hour IAYT accredited Professional KC Yoga Therapy program under Renee DeTar with guest faculty Doug Keller and Ray Long, M.D.. through the Institute of Interdisciplinary Yoga Studies in Kansas City, Missouri. A unique and valuable portion of this training included studying Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, under Kathryn Templeton from the Himalayan Institute. Julianne received her Ayurveda Yoga Specialist certification in January 2019. Julianne enjoys working with groups and individuals to offer personalized programs rooted in Ayurveda and Yoga philosophy, utilizing asana (poses), breathwork, Thai Yoga concepts, trigger point theory, functional anatomy and modern pain science to restore pain-free movement, life balance and overall health & well-being of body, mind & spirit.

Meet Gigi!

Gigiโ€™s focus as a yoga teacher is to encourage a practice where all are welcome and all can come together on our mats, each of us on our own journey, in a safe and fun environment. No judgments, no outrageous physical expectations -- only much love and gratitude, peace and appreciation: for ourselves, for each other and for our practice.

Gigi received her 200-RYT credentials in the Spring of 2018 after studying with Om Prana Yoga in Parkville, MO. With a strong foundation in restorative yoga and anatomy; she leads classes centered around proper alignment and intentional sequence and flow. Her classes are for all levels of practitioners. Gigi is also a reiki master, meditation facilitator and certified life coach.

When sheโ€™s not teaching, Gigi is enjoying life with her husband and their three children. She enjoys spending time with extended family and friends, reading books, being outdoors and listening to (live) music!

We are THRILLED to introduce you to Sara!!!

Meet Sara!

Sara has been teaching yoga in and around Kansas City since 2016 when she completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Max Strom. Saraโ€™s classes focus on breathwork, safety and alignment, and most of allโ€ฆFUN. She firmly believes that yoga is for everybody and every body. Sara hopes to see you in class where she says she learns as much from you as you learn from her and there is always, always, ALWAYS laughter. Her yoga philosophy is: You canโ€™t hold your breath when you are laughing.

Sara is married to a local fireman, has two teenage sons, two big dogs, is an avid runner and swimmer, and you wonโ€™t find her more than a few feet away from a book. She will often read especially moving passages from her current book out loud during class and call it story time.

Working with Posture is complex and multi-faceted, meaning itโ€™s rarely, if ever, one thing that creates the way in which we hold shape or form in relation to gravity.

One obvious aspect of Posture is how we consistently move or ๐Ÿ‘‰donโ€™t move our body. The less obvious aspect is how we breathe. Thatโ€™s right, our breath can heal our posture, or better said, breath awareness and breathwork can change our posture.

The respiratory diaphragm sits below the heart and lungs and above the abdominal organs. It is spread across the inside of the rib basket like a dome-shaped deflated ball. The diaphragm contracts creating the Inhale. When the diaphragm relaxes, you exhale. Like any Myofascia (muscle interwoven with connective tissue), it can get weak and tight, limiting its function to contact/relax, reducing the volume of your lung capacity.

If you are a shallow breather, as many are, consider the (dys)function of your diaphragm. Shallow breathing not only contributes to a weak core and a poor posture but can have a negative cascade effect on your physiology, including increased sensitivity or pain, increased muscle tension, digestive disturbances, anxiety, trouble sleeping, heart disease and so much more.

Oxygen fuels our postural muscles, whereas nutrition fuels our muscles of movement. As many focus on trying to eat well, we should also be intentionally breathing well, for our posture and our physiological health.

Try this.
๐Ÿ‘‡

Slouch in your chair, let your shoulders round forward, your ribcage collapse towards your pelvis and your head thrusts forward. Now breathe normal and notice. Now try to take a deep steady Inhale. Does it get caught? Limited? Where do you feel it?

Now sit up to the edge of your chair, relax & roll your shoulders back softly to stack over your hips, gently lift your ribcage off your pelvis, crown of the head rising skyward as the back of your neck lengthens, a slight dip of the chin towards the chest. Now breathe normal and notice. Try to take a deep steady Inhale filling up. What do you notice? Whatโ€™s different? Where do you feel it now?

Try slouching with this type of deep belly breath... itโ€™s difficult.

Join us at Lotus Care KC to learn breathing practices to support a healthy posture and enhance your well-being!
