Feel-Good Friday! 😻

Bee, a shy kitten who came to us through our partners at KCK Animal Services , arrived at urgent care with an eye injury. She was timid and would hide from everyone until Katie, one of our staff members, patiently won her trust. 💛

After her eye enucleation, Bee found her forever home with Katie, giving her the love and care she truly deserved. As you can see from the photos, she’s been getting just that. ☺️

⚠️ Graphic content warning: The last photo (6th photo) shows Bee’s eye injury before surgery.

On , we're sharing a few important reminders on the importance of microchips - such as:

➡ 1 in 3 family pets will get lost
➡ Microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be returned to their owners and microchipped cats are more than 20 times as likely to be returned to their owners

And remember - while microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen…a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate. Visit avma.org/CheckTheChip to learn more.

Fig recently developed a condition called cherry eye, which is caused by a genetic abnormality in the third eyelid.

While it isn’t typically caused by trauma or allergies, certain factors can make it worse. In many cases, it’s primarily a cosmetic issue, but if the gland is large enough, it can block tear drainage through the nasolacrimal duct, leading to irritation, tearing, or discomfort. Dogs can live their whole lives with cherry eye, but surgery is sometimes recommended, especially if the eye is irritated, the pet is rubbing their face, or the owner wishes to correct the appearance.

At The Pet Resource Center of Kansas City, our skilled veterinary team performs far more than spay and neuter surgeries. We offer procedures like cherry eye repair at an affordable price, ensuring pets get the care they need without breaking the bank or having to go without surgery.

He’s Only 4 Years Old — and We’re Fighting for His Life Again ❤️‍🩹

Tiger should be spending his days cat napping in sunny spots, not fighting for his life in an urgent care clinic… Just months ago, he underwent a major surgery to help prevent painful urinary blockages. We thought his suffering was finally behind him. But this week, Tiger was back. Blocked again, in pain, and struggling to survive.

Our team acted fast, unblocking him and giving him the chance to go home to the family who adores him. But his battle comes with a $700 bill still left to cover.

We know this sweet boy still has so much life left to live. Please, if you can, donate today to help cover Tiger’s bill that gave him the healthy, pain-free life he deserves. Every dollar counts. 💛

Thanks to the Boehringer-Ingelheim Grant through Greater Good, we received a generous donation of heartworm treatment and a large supply of flea and tick prevention to help pets in need. ❤

Grants like this are essential to the work we do. As a nonprofit vet clinic, we rely on this kind of support to provide critical care to pets whose families might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Because of this grant, Chloe here received her very first heartworm treatment free of charge last week, a big step toward a healthier life.

Check out these recent reviews and how your donations are changing lives!

"Pet Resource Center of Kansas City is the best place to take your pets. They are a caring professional and safe place for the care of your fur babies. I found Winnie starved and near death with heartworm on a business trip to Jackson Mississippi. After taking her to Pet Resource Center of Kansas City she is now on the mend and loving her new life. Thank you Pet Resource Center of Kansas City."

"Best folks ever, they definitely serve their community and their pups. They helped my dog Vega and it just so happened, we were there at the right time someone had just donated money and it paid for our surgery. Definitely blessed , she absolutely loves them."

"I came across the PRCKC while searching for a veterinary clinic to get our new dog spayed. After combing through the website, and reading reviews, I immediately scheduled her to get spayed, but also to get vaccines.Their pricing is extremely transparent, with no surprises, and they were able to work with our budget. When we brought her in for her appointment, we knew that there would be a wait, because they cleared stated it on their website, and asked for our patience, as they want to give every pet an exceptional level of care . We checked her in with no issues, and they answered every question we had. Once our girl was ready they sent a text and we picked her up. They went over her post-op instructions and provided us with medications to help her recover at home. It was a great experience and they took such good care of our girl! From start to finish everything was explained, our questions answered, and our concerns addressed. Thank you PRCKC for being amazing and providing KC with such an important service!"
