You may have seen a post from our friend Scott Poore earlier this week as he rallied support for a tiny puppy in critical condition in our care. Today, we’re so happy to share an update!

Six-week-old Bruno came to our urgent care fighting parvo, a devastating and often deadly virus in puppies. Our team immediately began treatment, including administering the parvo antibody to give him the best possible chance at survival.

When Scott shared Bruno’s story, you all stepped up in an incredible way. Because of your generosity, $1,284 was raised to cover the cost of Bruno’s care and save his life!!!

And the best news of all… Bruno went home to his family today! 🥰

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to Scott Poore and to every single person who donated, shared, and cheered Bruno on. Your kindness made this lifesaving care possible and gave this little boy the chance to grow up, play, and experience the love every puppy deserves. 💙

🌟 Volunteer Highlight: Laura! 🌟

If you’ve joined us on a Wednesday night with our outreach team, chances are you’ve met Laura.

Laura volunteers with us almost every Wednesday when we partner with Uplift Organization Inc. to provide vaccinations, pet supplies, and resources to pet owners experiencing homelessness in our community. Often bringing extra resources and supplies for the dogs we meet during our outreach nights.

And volunteering with us is just one of the many ways Laura gives back. She’s involved with numerous organizations across Kansas City, and is a huge advocate for the pets needing homes over at KC Pet Project. She even joined us when we volunteered at reStart Inc. Valentine’s Day party last month!

No matter the weather or how busy life gets, Laura shows up ready to help pets and the people who love them. Laura, thank you for your dedication, compassion, and the countless hours you give to help pets and the people who love them. We’re so grateful to have you as part of our volunteer family. 💙

107 Pets Vaccinated Last Friday! 💉🐾

Last Friday, our team vaccinated 107 pets at our First Friday vaccination event at Independence Animal Services! In addition to vaccines, we also offered microchips, heartworm tests, and flea, tick, and heartworm prevention all at an affordable cost.

The weather definitely tried to slow us down, raining on us for nearly the entire event, but it didn’t stop our team or the dedicated pet owners who showed up for their pets. Rain, mud, and all, we kept things moving! Throughout the event, we also spent time talking with pet owners about the importance of spay and neuter and how our clinic can help support them with affordable veterinary care.

A huge thank you to the pet owners who trusted us with their pets and shared such kind words of encouragement. And of course, thank you to our incredible staff and volunteers who powered through the rain to make this event possible. 💙🐾

Honoring John Blackwood

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John Blackwood, a man who dedicated over 30 years to making a difference through You Auto Donate. For decades, John’s generosity and commitment helped support our work here at Pet Resource Center of Kansas City.

We are deeply grateful to the Blackwood family for continuing his legacy and for the care and thoughtfulness they’ve shared with us during this time. John’s impact on our organization and the pets we serve will never be forgotten.

To honor his memory, we encourage supporters to learn more about You Auto Donate and how auto donations can continue to make a difference for pets in need at youautodonate.com.

Rest in peace, John.

Please Be Prepared for a Wait

When you schedule an appointment with us, your appointment time is your arrival time. Because of the high demand for affordable veterinary care in our community, there may be a wait before your pet is seen.

Our team is caring for pets needing everything from routine wellness visits and spay/neuter surgeries to urgent situations like parvo, urinary blockages, broken bones, and other critical cases. We do our best to move as quickly as possible while giving every pet the attention and care they deserve.

We know waiting isn’t fun, but our affordable services, experienced team, and trusted care are what make it worthwhile for so many families and their pets.

Thank you for your patience and for trusting us with your pet’s care. 🐾
