Who do you know whose life isn’t, in some way, touched by drug and alcohol addiction? Sadly, many of us understand all too well the impact addiction has on individuals, relationships, families, and society as a whole. Healing House, Inc., a non profit established in 2002, helps to restore the lives of individuals battling addiction through the provision of safe, stable, recovery-supportive housing. We’re grateful, thankful and blessed that thousands of men and women, who made Healing House their home, chose to brake the chains of addiction. We share our experiences with all that want what we have, strengthen our resolve to “do the next right thing” and give HOPE to everyone, everywhere at anytime for change.

If you’ve been around the admin building in the early morning, you’ve probably seen Terry Buckner — the best dog dad in town — leading his loyal pack with love and purpose. After a long night shift, Terry takes a healing walk with some of the most beloved four-legged residents from our community homes. 🐾

Skylar and Blue from Ruth's House are his regular companions, proudly guiding the way like they own the place (and let’s be honest, they kind of do)—and today, Blue’s brother, Spike, from our Cornerstone men's house, joined the morning walk.

There’s something powerful and peaceful about the way our pets connect with us. In our homes, they offer comfort, companionship, and even joy in the quietest moments. They’re not just pets — they’re healers, friends, and family.

We’re grateful for the humans who care for them — and for the dogs who give so much back. 💜

Applicants must be a licensed behavioral health professional such as a LCSW, LPC or LMFT who can practice independently without supervision.

The LIP provides a person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented therapy services to individuals experiencing substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders. This role involves conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing and reviewing individualized treatment plans, facilitating group and individual counseling sessions, family therapy, couples therapy and documenting participant progress in compliance with Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) and agency standards.

August Substance Use Trends at Healing House KC

In August, methamphetamine remained the most commonly reported primary substance among new applicants seeking recovery support at Healing House KC.

Alcohol and co***ne were also frequently reported, while opioids and other substances, though less common, continue to impact lives in our community.

At Healing House, we meet each person where they are—offering hope, healing, and a path forward. 💜

This event is a chance to connect, hear an excerpt from the book, and celebrate the power of recovery during Recovery Month.
