It’s about time you met Cody Warren Sinsheimer born 2/17/25 to Ted and Lauren. Little bro to Riley, he’s smiley, sweet and delicious. His middle name honors Ted’s grandfather, Ralph’s amazing father Warren Sinsheimer who passed away a year ago. I see a little Warren in Cody especially his ears🥰

My best gifts so far.. a hug from thanks to .geeeee, a night with and delicious COOKIES! I’m obsessed with Dan’s recipes including his legendary one-pot chicken and rice with caramelized lemon that just ranked #2 on the NYT most popular recipes of 2024! Wasn’t I supposed to ‘eat the rainbow’ cookies?😉

Gather some of the dwindling ripe local tomatoes and throw together this upside down tart. So easy if you have puff pastry in your freezer () - just remember to defrost it in your fridge for a few hours.
Ingredients:
Puff pastry- 1 box (Dufour is best!)
Tomatoes - 2-3 large, 1-2 pints small
Olive oil
Balsamic glaze
Honey
Feta - 6-8 oz
Fresh or dried herbs, salt, pepper

🍅
Preheat oven to 400 F
🍅
Slice different color medium and large tomatoes, halve the small ones
🍅
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment. Drizzle with olive oil, honey, balsamic glaze. Sprinkle with crumbled feta and any herbs you like.
🍅
Place tomatoes on parchment putting cut side down for smaller ones and leaving an empty border of 1-2 inches around the edge of pan.
🍅
Take puff pastry out of box, remove all paper and lay it on floured surface to roll out big enough to cover your tomatoes. Lay it over the tomatoes and gently push down the edges to seal.
🍅
Gently score the top of puff pastry with a knife and brush with egg yolk.
🍅
Bake for 20-25 minutes until crisp, deeply browned and puffed.
🍅
Let cool then place a large board over top to cover, say a prayer and flip the whole thing. Peel off the parchment carefully and resettle any rogue tomatoes. Cut, sprinkle with salt and invite your neighbors to ohh and ahhh!

I truly love pasta! This simple rustic version by the great Melissa Clark includes garlic, tomato paste, lemon, and yes, anchovies. Don’t run screaming, they add earthy depth and dissolve fully into the pasta. Trust me, it’s the secret ingredient in so many delicious dishes, and this is one of them! If you really can’t deal then swap olives and /or capers as she suggests. I also added a medium head of shredded radicchio in with the pasta for the final cooking - it wilted in and added beautiful color and depth!

And yes, I’m happy to see you too, my little Riley roo!

Such a fun family wedding in Florida this weekend! My niece married her cowboy love Steve Bukowski. They found such a great place to get married with the ceremony held under beautiful old trees draped in Spanish moss and the reception was in the most perfect and adorable barn I ever saw. Dinner was bbq and dancing was under the stars! Congrats✨ 💖🥂

If you both succumb to the creeping crud aka Covid and have to cancel your New Year’s plans, drag a table next to the fire, get out all the leftover holiday charcuterie, pour a big glass of wine and lean into it. Also my new mini waffle maker made delicious potato latkes that we slathered with (not sour cream but rather) Greek yogurt and wild salmon roe, which was festive and tasty. It all worked out quite nicely. I hope your New Years is grand, and 2024 is full of joy, health, happiness and peace! 🤞✨💕

It’s dark, it’s cold, the world is a mess. Possibly you, like me, need a cozy roast chicken dinner? Here’s my simple recipe for delicious lemon herb roasted chicken 🍋

Ingredients:
- 1 roasting chicken, giblets removed, patted dry
- 1 lemon cut into chunks
- 4-6 garlic cloves roughly chopped
- fresh herbs (sage, rosemary etc)
- dried herbs, cumin, smoked paprika, or whatever dried herbs you like and have
- 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 F.
- Wipe inside surface of a cast iron skillet or other heavy pan with olive oil and put it in the preheated oven for a few minutes
- Carefully remove the hot pan from oven and place the chicken breast side down in the pan, put it back in oven to sear for 1-2 minutes
- Again, very carefully (the cast iron is HOT!) flip the chicken over so the breast side is up in pan, squeeze most but not all of the lemon pieces over the breast (reserve a few pieces) then use a spoon to push the squeezed pieces inside the cavity.
- Do the same with the garlic putting some outside and pushing some pieces inside.
-Sprinkle kosher salt and dried herbs over top of bird. Stuff fresh herbs into the cavity leaving the herbs, hanging outside.
- Place skillet in oven at 425. Wait 5 minutes then turn the oven temperature down to 350 and cook for 1.5 hours or until juices run clear when you make a small knife cut deep into the breast.
- Take chicken out and immediately squeeze remaining few pieces of lemon over top and let it sit it 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve with rice that has some of the lemony juices mixed in, a nice salad /roasted vegetables, and maybe a hunk of sourdough bread too. I promise you will feel better about everything ❤️

No matter how much you ate yesterday, how many starches and sides and sweets, today is a new day. What to do? Get up and eat again. Just like normal. Because that’s how your body works best. Don’t overcorrect or you’ll bounce off the guard rails. Keep moving forward and enjoy your day. I know Ralph will 🎈🎁🎂
